Very good fighter. Floyd took the Camacho approach towards boxing by playing the villain and being flashy. Hector is one of the fastest hands in boxing history as well. His defense was very very good but decided to run more when he felt that left hook from Edwin Rosario. A Hall of Famer for sure.

Some of the fastest hands that boxing has ever seen...overlooked generally because no one likes the guy.

But his unbeaten run during the 80's was quite impressive.

Great fighter at 130, seemed to lose a little edge after the Rosario fight but proved he had a lot of balls later on in his career that people didn't think he had.

Mid 80s were Macho Time and everyone knew it. Hate him or love him he was exciting to watch any time he climed into a ring. The fight vs Rosario was a true war and the first time PRicans were forced to choose between two Ricans fighting eachother. **** I can still remember the place where I watch that fight......

IMHO, had Camacho fought Chavez earlier in his career, it would had be a different fight. Just my opinion....

thanks fellas...unfortunately i never got to see the guy fight because i was born in '87. i know he's a HOF for sure and one of the best from Puerto Rico. i did know he changed his style after the Rosario fight (i posted this on another thread) but how was his personal life? i know it was kinda tough (he went to prison at age 15) did this have an impact on his career? how was the Chavez fight like? im gonna YouTube him later when i get home...thanks again for the input:clap:

There is a fair bit of him on youtube dude..so have a look. Personally his performance against Limon is one of the fastest displays of punching I have ever seen, he looked a world beater that night.

His life outside the ring was lead by drugs and alcohol which lead to his downfall. He partied too much and was not really focused in boxing and still did very well in the ring. He could had beaten Chavez if he believed in himself cause he was still fast with his hands and feet and could take a good punch. he just didnt believe in himself that night and took a beating from Chavez. But if this fight took place before the Rosario fight he would had won easily.

I will look and read about him when i get home (im at work) but i remember my family always talking about Camacho when i was a kid but never really got around to finding out more...thanks guys, another question which might be difficult to ever answer effectively-

why do great talented athletes, who have the world in the palm of their hand and not to mention a shitload of money, go down the drain and **** their lives up? like Tyson for example....

I agree with the others. HOF for sure. Great skills and speed. Curiously he started in TaekwonDo before boxing. His showman skills allowed him to make more money than other boxers in his era. Unfortunately he decided to spend his money doing the wrong things. I am not saying this to talk bad about MACHO. He is one of my favorite boxers and his Stepfather was my first trainer. I learned to wrap my hands with him. By the time Camacho fought Chavez and Chapo he was already doing wrong things. Chapo also followed that route and unfortunately he died.
But Camacho was so talented that he fought Tito and Oscar and they weren't able to knock him out. Camacho is the guy you don't want to fight in the street because he knows all the tricks!!

Too much fame, too much money, too many women at an early age and not enough TRUE friends to steer them in the right direction. Just bad company.

Underrated on most list. Had he had a little more punching power, this guy would have been a machine.
