Tbf Wilder was supposed to fight Povetkin before it was cancelled weeks before because Povetkin failed a drugs test.
Only due to being a forced mandatory, could of looked to arrange a fight against him again or another top opponent instead of low level guys.
Come on Mitch you’re just changing the rules. You list Povetkin as part of Whyte’s great resume but Wilder was supposed to fight him too and it fell through, through no part of his own. Also, why would he reschedule a fight against someone who failed a drugs test before fighting him first time around? Like saying why doesn’t Joshua fight Jarrell Miller.
Pointless going at him as he over just repeats the same stuff over and over again. Im actually convinced at this point that Mitch is just a boxrec algorithm.
Major difference in context of the situations of Povetkin and Miller. If I'm not Mistaken Povetkin just over for substance that had recently been banned and still in his system from non banned date (if I recall correctly he proved this in court). Hence why Povetkin was still allowed to fight unlike Miller. WBC actually ruled it as postponed not indefinite cancelled due to this. Wilder didn't fight him, could of still chose to do so but didn't. It wouldn't have been bad if Wilder fought another top fighter but instead fought Arreola, then Washington and then Stiverne in a rematch.
Didn't Povetkin win a subsequent court case about this? I thought Finkel seized upon the test as a chance of escaping what looked a ver challenging fight and him and Wilder went back to the US rather than allowing Team Povetkin to clear it up, as they subsequetly did? Maybe this is going off topic, but I don't think Wilder get to do that and also claim that they were actively seeking the most dangerous opponent possible, just look at his record, they made risk avoidance an art form!
Eddie Hearn interview from the other day in which he calls Benn a global superstar, criticizes Carl Greaves match making for Avanesyan over the Taylor and Metz fights, but conviviality forgets to mention the fight before that when he folded Josh Kelly in half. Then for the icing on the cake claims that Avanesyan and Greaves don't have the right to call out 'one of the biggest stars in boxing' in Conor Benn. This content is protected I know it's his job to promote and hype his fighter but ffs, this is just ridiculous. It comes across as so desperate and is so detached from reality that it's actually embarrassing. I could almost feel sorry the bloke watching him reduced to this.
Overhyped, he has been well matched and i will be surprised if he ever fights a live opponent. He will win a world strap, they will pick up a vacant title fighting some top 50 bum.
If Eddie didn’t have a rich dad he would have made an awesome second hand car salesman. The man is ruthless and doesn’t have an ounce of guilt.
