I agree about Roger and Rooney but although most of Roach's rep with more casual fans is from Pac, he's also shown he's more than lucky with a great talent by doing a great job with other fighters. Penalosa with the long span in between titles, he's brought Khan along very well, etc.
I'm not sure how good as a trainer he is. Let us be honest, he is training one of the most gifted and natural boxer of his generation. PBF is a rat gym, technically as flawless as one can get and has a high boxing IQ. So unless he trains another world class fighter with decent results, I can't really give him credit beyond 'good' (as he is not messing up PBF).
Roger knows how to beat up women. Prosecutors have the go ahead to set trail according to what I have read. Void vs. Christy Martin?
I think Roger is a great trainer for Floyd. He might be unproven by not having other world class fighters but i agree with the post that said he won 2 major titles so he obviously knows what he is doing. Ive seen video of him working with other fighters and he seems like hes a good trainer, and a reminds me of one of them Cranky but knowledgeable Old School trainers. Theres not a whole lot of trainers out there that really know the game But Roger is one of the few who does.
Overrated and Underrated in a different sense. Hes a great trainer because of Floyd, but you have to wonder would Floyd have gone as far as he has now without Roger? I think the answer is obvious. Hes also underrated in some ways because he really cannot have a deep stable like Roach does because Floyd wants him to be 100% focused on him only. Just look at the Steve Forbes situation, Roger was training him but Floyd told him to stop and he did. I believe Roger can make good fighters if he wanted to but he is very limited at the moment, however he wont be making the HoF on his trainer credentials as of now thats for sure.
Dont like the guy, he beat a woman up he was training because of jealousy from what i've heard, hope it isnt true.
not sure, dont rate him highly or lowly mayweather snr has made floyd the boxer he is today, when floyd was growing up it was his dad who trained floyd how to box and at the start of his career. only when the money started rolling in did floyd start getting a huge ego so he got rid of his dad who wanted to make him even better but it required huge discipline from floyd which he didnt have anymore oh and i hope the ****er gets 10 years for almost killing that woman
