What do you all think would be best for Joshua?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by catchwtboxing, Sep 27, 2021.

What does Joshua do next?

  1. Fight Usyk as soon as possible

    21.5%
  2. Try to get the winner of Wilder/Fury

    9.2%
  3. Take a couple of winnable tune-ups, maybe after changing style and.or trainer.

    24.6%
  4. Rubber match Ruiz

    4.6%
  5. Take some time off, enjoy life, and come back with the batteries recharged

    10.8%
  6. Retire. Either because he won't beat Usyk or Fury. Or because he has nothing left to prove.

    9.2%
  7. Ride the wind...just see what is on front of him and go from there

    10.8%
  8. Other (please specify)

    9.2%

I am going to attach a poll.

I like the man, and think his place in history is secure. He is still the third best heavyweight fighter in my book until proven otherwise, and I can think of no reason that he should not fight on if that is what he wants.

All of that notwithstanding, I think pride and expectations make these guys come back too quick. He's a young, handsome, famous and astonishingly rich guy. He should take a year chasing women on the riviera and not think about boxing. Come back when the nightmare of the last couple of years is a memory and he is ready to do it for fun. He'll only be 32.

What is your idea for a career path?

He can't beat Usyk. No chance. He's too mobile, too slick, too smart, his chin is too good, he's too quick, and he has a small hitbox. If he looses to Usyk a second time it's going to be a long climb back. He needs to just try and fight the winner of Wilder/Fury.

Fury is a tough style match up but he's a much larger target than Usyk, isn't as quick as Usyk and doesn't give his opponents nearly as many angles. Usyk always had a solid chin wheras Fury has been dropped and hurt multiple times in his career and if Joshua does land cleanly he can hurt Fury and finish him off. So I'd say Joshua has a decent chance against him though i obviously favor Fury.

He should wait for winner of Usyk vs Wilder-fury and hope that somebody stops Usyk so that he can fight him.

Mentally he's closing in on being shot now and I'm not saying it as an AJ hater. He thought he was superior and has been proven not to be, shattering his view of himself and the world. He's taken two of the most humiliating losses in boxing history, definitely the No.1 against fat Andy. If he fights Usyk again (which he will: Hearn will force him to take the fight with his new slave contract) he will lose even worse next time, probably get KO'd. At this point it's all downhill for him and the longer he stays in the game, the more his legacy will be tarnished and mental health will decline. He's talking about fighting Wilder or Fury without belts after he loses again to Usyk: this is madness. He's going to get passed around like a cheap hooker if he continues. But he can't go out on that Usyk fight can he? And Hearn won't let him anyway. It's a rough one.

If feel like if Joshua fought Wilder next year and KO'd him in 30 seconds you'd just say it doesn't count because Wilder is past his prime after the Fury fights.

This is the type of agenda ridden mentality we're working with

AJ is a mentally shot fighter at this point looking at retirement. He is overly concerned with his team and hangers on. He isn’t the fearless and reckless fighter that beat Wlad.

I think results dictate when he retires.

The businessman in him won’t be able to turn down the Usyk rematch. He loses.

Then he has to take risks and fight anyone. I guess he has 3-4 more fights losing 1-2 of them then retires.

I would like to see his face Wilder and one of the up and comers like Hrgovic or Yoka before he retires. I also think a Joyce fight would be great.

Fury murders him in the ring. He has far stronger punches than Usyk. Even street fighter bum Wilder is my favourite against him. And why he tries to fight "winner" of the Fury vs Wilder 3? Usyk gonna fight winner and Joshua gonna fight loser.

Best choice is a bout with loser of Fury vs Wilder 3.

Take some time off, allow Usyk the opportunity to fight for all the marbles, possibly fight the loser out of Fury and the Tuscaloser or a rematch with Whyte.

I'd go for the rematch to be honest, who knows when he'll get the chance otherwise. Usyk also might lose to somebody else, not to mention he's getting older.

If he's chasing legacy, in my opinion that is the best move to make although it is risky.

He has to go for the rematch, of course he does, what else is there to do , really?

    Fight Derek?

Usyk rematch first , then fight Derek :risas3:

Whyte is the mandatory for the winner of Fury/Wilder. I think AJ should fight Chisora next, If he gets beat then he should retire.

Fight Usyk straight away just don't try to outbox him beef up and jump on him from the first bells , avenging a defeat looks better 20 odd years down the line just ask Lenny Lewis , Joshua is still too young to ride off into the sunset he still has heaps to offer and you're a long time retired IMHO.

Who he had beefed and finished in first rounds?
I suspect he is not able to do this in first rounds vs elephants Usyk uses to spar with.
If he will get catched on counter he will go to sleep and next time old Usyk will know that he needs to KO AJ to get a draw.
So there might be puncher's gloves with horsehair padding on Usyk and some shot with such stuff on temples and ribs might be cool ticket to retirement.

Will rob Usyk on cards, use all shenganians possible and still.
A.J isn't the same anymore for market.
Never will be even if he really according to some posters will KO Usyk in 1 st round in rematch. NEVER.
It was best ppvs and tickets seller in the world if we talk about HW and CW divisions together.
Now Eddie will press for fast rematch or wait until Usyk will be enough old.

Definitely fight one of the 2 big names he hasn't faced yet.

Eddie keeps telling everyone he's a throwback fighter. Forget the rematch and give us something new and unpredictable.
