What do you consider a "big man"?

It has everything to do with frame. Shoulder width, wrist ankle and neck circumference etc.

 

I agree. People get too hung up on weight. David Haye weighs more than a prime Joe Frazier, but who is the naturally bigger man?

 

Yeah. See some of these men in real life and they are big despite being relatively light.
George Foreman was always BIG. He was big when he weighed 214 pounds.

Conversely, someone might weigh 225 muscular but not be as big as the Foreman types.
225 lean and muscular is big, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't necessarily make you bigger than the man weighing 210.

Height is a must too. You can't really be big in boxing terms without being at least around average height for the weight class.
As stocky and a heavily-muscled as the likes of Tyson and Tua were, for example, they were never big heavyweights.

 

I consider all my lads big, they are all over 6'2" and range from 230 to280lbs,I'm like a midget next to them.

 

Well if we're talking HW and today's standards then i would say atleast 6'3.5-6'4"
and atleast 225-230 lbs

 

I bought the youngest one a suit for his Nan's funeral, the jacket was a 52" chest , he couldn't do it up.

It's a bit relative to your size, isn't it? Let's not confuse big with fat.

The average person has about 18% body fat. Athletes range between 6-13% body fat.

So let's say anyone over 6 feet 220 pounds with less than 14% body fat is a big man, but give the numbers some leeway as there are different types of builds.

 

Max Baer was a big man....the first "non-oafish" big man.
