Is a veteran boxer someone who's fought a lot of fights? If so, how many fights does it take to become a veteran?
Someone who has fought at the highest level for a number of years and/or fights. Hopkins, Jones, Toney, Woods, etc etc
Not necessary......what if u had a late start like Simms or Tarver. I believe is a combination of both, cause you can have a lot of fights but if you are always losing , what experince do you get? can you actually be called a veteran?
Surely its all about the amount of experience ---how long you've been campaigning ---succesful or otherwise.:smoke :smoke
The dictionary definition - A person who is long experienced or practiced in an activity or capacity. Which would make my previous post incorrect.
a fighter who fights the hardest and toughest fighters. it doesnt matter how many fight you have. you could of beat and lost to cab drivers that doesnt mean your a vetran. usually guys who find tricks and skills that only comes with aging in the ring. mo harris manny augustus peter buckley are vetrans but just arnt succesful
veterans, are usually by casual definition someone who has been to wars. You can find people with shitloads of fights, that may have been soft and they're usually still regarded as prospect (Tye Fields). As others have said age is not the determining factor either, as a boxer could start at a very late age. Veterans have generally gone to, and been thru wars, and are now coming down the "home stretch".
Good question. A veteran to me would be a guy who's over 30 and has been in some tough fights and has a few losses on his record. He's not quite shot but definitely not in his prime. Had he been undefeated you wouldn't be throwing around the word veteran. A veteran has been through both good and bad IMO.
