I'm a big believer in mixing things up, and there are many skills that need to be honed for boxers. I thought it might be interesting to hear what others do in their training sessions that might be a little different to most. Here's a couple of things I like to throw in: 1. Agility/Footspeed Drills: I like to throw this in as part of the warm up. There are many drills so you can change it up every few weeks to keep it interesting. 2. Spatial Awareness: I think this is important in most sports but even more so in boxing. As a fighter is throwing and dodging punches, it's important that the fast movements don't throw off his ability to know where his target is.
my conditioning all comes from sparring. I hardly ever run and I will ride my bike maybe once a week for a couple miles, but in the ring I can go round after round without feeling it in my legs or lungs at all.
it wasnt just hatton that uses are gyms ad ours since b4 hatton came on the scene and ther was always 1 in wincobank 2
agility & sprints neck work heavy rotational work handspeed drills peripheral vision/reflex training (my eyesite isn't up to par so I pretty much have to) Most people do some or all of that. I think the peripheral thing is something rarely done though.
