RJJ got KTFO when he got near Calzaghe's age and they both rely on speed and reflexes. This isn't Bernard Hopkins or George Foreman or Randy Couture we're talking about here. Boxing is a young man's game. Hell-- if Calzaghe had lost a lopsided decision to Kessler, I would give him his props for not getting KTFO like most aging champs.
RJJ beat Toney more impressively than Calzaghe beat Kessler, and I daresay Toney in his prime was a better fighter than Kessler.
Thats right Calzaghe didn't dominate Kessler the way Jones dominated Toney for good reason, remember what people said the last time he completely dominated another fighter?
Depends on who you are everyones different. Shane Mosley looks as good as every at 36 but RJJ was getting sparked cold at 35-36 I think that may have to do with RJJs weight losses and his lack of fundemental skills while Mosley stayed around the same weights and worked with John David Jackson on his defensive technique which has shown his last 2 fights. You look at JMM at 34 he looks pretty fresh probablly cause he hasnt take too much damage while Erik Morales at 31 looks completly shot cause never every major fight he was in was a toe to toe battle.
I do know that after 33, sme guys are as good as when they were 28-32....others are not..It will be interesting how Joe fares past 35, should he continue:hey
yeah, the point is that most guys will decline very slightly by 35. it all depends upon how you take care of yourself. but when prime is about 30 and humans can live to 120, you shouldn't decline significantly in your 30s
**** why does everybody always talk about age:huh Bernard Hopkins at 42 is still kicking ass, Foreman was 45 and knocking out guy's in their 20's:yep it's funny how these guy's in their late 30's are beating up on guy's in their 20's. Do idiots ever consider that genetics and lifestyle play more into the age factor than a person's birtdate:nono. Age is a number not a death sentence..:smoke
no fighter has ever been better in there 40s then they were in there 20s. thats why every fighter has all his losses at the end of his career.
