He is going to face Costa Phillipou in May.......do you think he would have a good shot vs Anderson ? Or just a possible champion candidate when AS retires ??

    A lot hopefully.

Maybe in the UFC he will take his opponents a little more seriously. No disrespect to Rockhold as he is a very good fighter but I couldn't help bu feel that Jacare didn't take him seriously...

I'd love to see Jacare Vs Palhares!!!

Although Phillipou is the touted boxer and Jacare doesn't have the greatest chin I think Jacare has shown more power in his last few fights.

Phillipou has showed an improvement in grappling but for a pure BJJ guy Jacare has good takedowns and obviously the best(joint best with Maia) MMA BJJ.

Gracie Vs Kennedy is happening. I think if Roger wins that it's a natural matchup. A step back for Jacare but I'd love to see it. Sadly I think Kennedy will win a horrid kickboxing encounter.

Back on topic, I think Souza will get through Phillipou, by nasty sub at some point. If Rockhold gets through Belfort he will likely get next title shot. If he doesn't, maybe it's time for the Jacare rematch.

Seems the UFC have two middleweight policeman you have to get through to advance to The Spider now. Rockhold is getting Belfort, so Jacare Vs Okami makes perfect sense for me.

Jacare has really stepped it up over the last year and a half. His striking has improved a ton and his BJJ will always be top notch. He will be on the warpath in the UFC. I can only see Anderson giving him the trouble. Even then, that is a tough fight for Silva.

Jacare is 'roiding his tits off. No way he gets down to 170 to fight Maia for the title :D

Jacare Vs Roger Gracie seems more feasible IMO. Again, not sure whether they are friends but if not, and Roger goes on to improve some more I'd love to see that hit the mat...in a cage.

I meant Damien moving up obviously

Also think Weidman would be a good match up, but he obviously has plans

Phillipou's best weapon is his straight right hand, and that is what Jacare is most open to. Jacare better get this on the ground quick, or he could have his lights put out.

I'm not sold on Phillipou's power nor Jacre's 'glass' chin. I think Souza can survive a few rough patches here. Good call though.

In the 2004 Mundials Roger broke Jacare's arm in the middle of a match and he refused to tap... He tucked his arm into his belt and carried on.

He beat Roger on points! People went crazy! Some said the match should have been stopped others said it was proof that Jacare was the better player as he beat Roger with 1 arm for at least half of the match... It is regarded by many as one of the great matches.

I'm sure they'd get it on! Jacare would knock him out in the first... Easily!

I know that hence my 'in a cage' but I didn't know what had happened since.

And yes, certainly one of the greatest BJJ matches I've seen.

Costa stuffed a good few of Boestch's TD if I remember correctly, could make it interesting. Like to see how he will deal with an inside trip or two from Souza

Im not sold on either guys stamina if they grappple for the 1st round or two, but Im thinking Souza UD here, but as rek said, it could get interesting on the feet if Jacare wants to stand & Wang for too long
