Seems that a lot of people have basically anointed him as the future WW champion. And he certainly looks the goods so far. What do you expect him to do in his career? He's still at the stage where he could turn out to be a total bust. Or he could end up being GSPv2. I just watched his fight with Nate for the first time, and that was great. Nate has no business at WW. Once it got to the 3rd and Diaz was tired, it was hilarious to see Rory repeatedly pick him up like a child and fling him into row 6 with no apparent effort. The look on Nates face when he got picked up for the second and third time like "oh ****, here I go again" was priceless. :rofl But where do you stand on the guy? What level of achievement is your early prediction for him as he approaches his first real top-of-the-card showcase fight? :think :hat
He's definitely got the skills to evolve into a future WW Champion you would think, but there's a lot of things that could happen to him. I think he's maybe two fights away from the rematch with the Natural Born Killer. I'd like to see him in against Johny Hendricks, think that would be a real test of character for MacDonald.
Injury prone will lose some will win some and this is probably the best Main event ready prospect now.
Well lets break things down The elite at the division are not exactly old, MaCdonald IMHO is a way off the elite, some way off by my calculations, he's a young kid, but his style is there for all to see, he's well rounded but great at nothing in particular, unless he improves all departments he doesnt have that one tool that will carry him against the elite of the sport I personally feel he is over rated, and i dont think he'll ever wear UFC gold, thats just my opinion Added to that i feel Erick Silva is a much better prospect despite being slightly older, there is a guy who i think will be a future champion
I want to see Rory MacDonald fight a guy like Thiago Alves. Someone who can stop a takedown. Haven't had a chance to really see the guy uncomfortable yet. The UFC is definitely giving him the slow build with favourable matchups to make him look dominant. Not to take anything away from him... he definitely is looking beastly so far. Actually... Josh Koscheck would be a pretty dang interesting fight too.
Um, when he was 20 years old and in his 2nd fight in the UFC, he was on the main card fighting against Carlos Condit. Nothing "slow build" or "favourable matchup" about that. Agreed. :good :hat
