Ive boxed on & off for years ,,when ever it was on ,i would always train to compete ,,i feel when ever i do anything there as to be something to aim for ,i am know training & starting to think like a coach this means looking for whys to improve a boxers style

because boxing is so physically challenging after a hard days work ,i was wondering ,,for what reason do you train ?

Used to do it just for fun. Told my coach, i had no interest in competing.
A year and a half later and I'm competing in as many fights as I can get.
I haven't had a fight in 4 weeks and i'm itching bad for the next one.

So I guess i see both sides of it. Training is fun. Competing is even more fun.

I enjoy being able to know that if i get attacked most likely I'm going to be coming out on top unless they also train very heavily.

Eventually be better than anyone who is put infront of me. Then there are side achievements, health, looks etc.

for me boxing is a must, honestly it helps my mental health lol its a great outlet, i get out all of my agression, so outside the gym im actually pretty laid back and confident i get rewarded for fighting rather than punished, I get to punch people in the face and I like getting hit lol makes me feel alive. Physically boxing gets you in tremendous shape. I love the feeling of being in a war maybe its the andrenolyn rush but its better than any drug i could buy on the street. haha

John L Sullivan most of liked the feeling of being able to "lick any son of a ***** in the word!" lol

1.I don't want to end up like a fat **** by the time I reach 30. I'm about as white collar you can get so most of the time I sit on my chair and work at a desk.

2.Confidence. Often, I don't think I can do something, and boxing proves me wrong. I will most likely hit a wall someday, but at least I'll know where the wall is.

3.I guess as an outlet for anger management issues. It is fun, I feel a real sense of accomplishment when I improve a little bit. If I don't occupy my time, I get into a really weird self-destructive cycle.

    4. Just the general social aspect. People are really nice at the gym. I try to have positive influences in my life and leave the negative behind.

I don't care so much about competition for competition's sake but I recognize that one doesn't get good at boxing without competing.

Great to read your story's fellow boxers ,,,,boxing is like a drug,,,

once you've tried it --you want to go again

if you haven't been for a while --you will be ready to go back for more

& if you have it --the feeling of being proud of yourself for what you have achieved is better than any drug :happy

thanks for the storys would like to read more :party:boxing2:desk:respect

Always just trained to keep fit and cos i was a fan for years.

Going to make my debut next season as the oldest amatuer boxer (probably!) in britain this coming season.

As someone else said i feel it is a great de-stressing tool to go and train/spar etc. i had a twat of a day at work then went the gym and felt well better about things when id finished.

Also has other benefits such as health looking better etc.
