What do you guys think about this fight between Bramble and Rosario in 1986?

I still remember Merchant saying Bramble might be hurt here. Something like that in round 2 when Bramble falls against the ropes after the thumbing part. We were all shocked about Bramble being stopped and then Camacho fought Boza Edwards in a very boring fight.
I wish I could agree with you on the thumbing thing. Bramble was thumbed but at the end of round one Rosario landed a decent short right and Bramble looked a little stunned before the thumbing. Rosario came out more aggressive in round 2 and that is when he landed that left hook/uppercut with Bramble on the ropes. Before that thumbing (which was actually another left uppercut thrown) Rosario was already starting to land and he hurt Bramble. That might have just made Bramble aware of his left eye more but Rosario was going to knock him out. Bramble was being countered awfully easy and Rosario could punch. Bramble had no answer for that sort of power and really speed. I think all the swelling did was give Bramble an excuse he could try and convince people about, but the way stayed down for the 10 count after being nailed shows it was the punch and not the swelling and most people do not buy the thumbing as the reason he lost. If the swelling was the only issue he would have kept fighting and the ref would have stopped it. He was being nailed with huge punches and he just said no mas. Big time.

Rosario did throw a good uppercut that caught Bramble against the ropes, but, Rosario's thumb went right into Bramble's eye and he became blinded.... Bramble motions that he's blind by a thumb upon rising after being counted out......... I've seen this fight numerous times.... I own a copy of it from the actual HBO telecast from '86.......... Thats how you break a turtle shell defense......you go underneath with uppercuts as Rosario did.

It helps tremendously of course when you have KO power in those uppercuts like Rosario did!:yep

So then I must concur you thought Bramble was fast?

They were miles apart in talent Rosairo & Bramble.

.....and all Camacho did was run away....goofy southpaw.:-(

Rosario was one of the best fighters of the 80s, imo. He should have gotten the call against Camacho in their fight. He was a such a crushing puncher, they said that it was he who turned Camacho into a runner (imo, that's a bit of an exageration, Camacho already had those inclinations). It is a shame he ran into a prime Chavez when he did and then later dissipated himself with drugs, because he could have been even greater than he was. Still one of the top fighters of the 80s despite this - and yes, he had amazing power for a lightweight, much more than perhaps Bramble expected.
