There should be some long term benefit like a pension or insurance for every fighter who pays a sanctioning fee to an organisation like the WBC.

 

The answer to all this is Form an international boxing Commission, Which would inform the Alphabets WBC,WBA IBF etc change their titles to read WBC title & not WBC World title The International Commission makes ONE world title for every weight class & they are the legitimate champion in every weight world title

He has done nothing but fight the best in his division. Keith Run Time Thurman refused to face him when everyone was calling for it. He took on Danny immediately after the car crash. Took on Ugas immediately after recovering from eye surgery. Now he is unifying with Crawford. He has had the best resume at 147 for several years now.

Watching Morales whoop Manny in the first fight with no belt was pretty big. Belts don’t make the fight, the fighters do. However, a championship is definitely necessary to see who is king of the hill. But a belt, not several. Boxing is just a giant clusterpuck that is a love/hate relationship. I’m sorry to any of my family who I got watching this. Lol.

 

It’s been a pretty weak welterweight era though. I just find it odd that fans have never requested he move up for better challenges when we seen it with another fighter for several years. But it’s clear that it all depends on who the fighter is.

 

Spence has no obligation to move up just as GGG had no obligation to move up. There is nothing wrong with being the dominant king of a single division.

Besides, Spence has already expressed interest in moving up once he's done with Crawford. Unlike Fury and Canelo, he doesn't want to have historians asking him why he didn't fight the #2 guy of his era.

 

Spence loved kissing WBC ass back n 4th for the longest but now that he is awaiting his biggest ass whooping he's gone alaround to being pissed off

 

I agree he has no obligation. I just find it laughable how the same people who screamed for years that G needs to move up, are library quiet about Spence moving up now.

 

Because there were so many good fights for Spence at 147: Danny, Thurman, Porter, Brook, Crawford, Pacquiao, etc. No point in getting upset that a guy won't move up if he's fighting in a heated division. Golovkin was ruling over a pretty boring 160.

154 is not even a very great division. For years only Lara, Trout, and Jermell were decent opponents and the first 2 were getting old.

 

It was only boring because the other champions refused to fight him. Nobody is scared of Spence. Welterweight was so hot he needed Mikey Garcia and Danny Garcia to move up. Lol.

 

I watched that entire era and you are dead wrong. Thurman was terrified of Spence and did his best to avoid that fight which is where the "run time Thurman" memes came from. Kell Brook also had Spence as a mandatory and drug things out before finally agreeing. Pacquiao didn't mention Spence by name for literal years. Danny was already a fully fledged welterweight and a former welterweight champion before he fought Spence. Nobody asked Mikey to do anything, Mikey kept calling Spence out and willingly moved up trying to make a name for himself.

Golovkin refused to fight either Charlo, Andrade, Lara, Saunders, or Ward who all called him out numerous times. It wasn't like Golovkin was some major superstar who could earn them 10 million dollar paydays, they really thought they could beat him. He stalled the fight with Dervenchenko and kept chasing Canelo like a school girl for 7 years.

The only guys you can say straight up ducked GGG are Cotto (a tiny guy moving up from 140) and Mora. You can possibly add Sergio Martinez, but his legs were in bad shape and his health was declining. Golovkin whined that guys wouldn't fight him and then ignored a bunch of guys who would fight him and refused to move up even though he said he'd fight guys in other divisions such as Froch and Chavez.
