How would you rate the movie Hands of Stone guys?
A lot of folks have been criticizing the fact that they casted Usher as Sugar Ray, but in my opinion, and I think I'm in the minority here, Usher actually did a good job mimicing Sugar Ray's in ring movements, given the fact that he hasn't boxed before in his life, and there were several scenes in the movie where he actually looked like Sugar Ray as well...

I didnt think the guy that played Roberto Duran did the boxing legend any justice though...

    Thoughts???

No desire to watch it. Probably watch the Pac or Klitschko docs first. Probably watch more Duran fights instead. Haven't seen them all. ****, some of them are worth rewatching before I'd need to see another bad boxing movie. Those are almost never good. Like maybe 1 in 20 is good and you get a Rocky, a Diggs Town, Raging Bull, Great White Hype, or Fat City. Most of the time they are stupid and forgettable. I remember watching The Fighter about Mickey Ward and the damn movie ended years before he fought Augustus or Gatti. WTF! You're making a biopic about a guy and you don't include the only thing he's ****ing known for? Or what about Graziano's awful biopic Somebody Up There Likes Me? It's just littered with all kinds of Hollywood cliches, or that Million Dollar Baby film that was just depressing and took a hard left turn for euthanasia.

If I'm going to see a sports movie, I think there's probably more good football ones, and that's speaking as a guy with no interest in football at all. But with a football movie you are probably going to get better craftsman all around since it's got the bigger fanbase. Bigger budget, better actors too. Plus, they make a lot more of them so they know how to do it right. With boxing movies, everyone is always guessing about the formula rolling the dice and getting it wrong.

I'll watch it. If it's a fun movie, I don't think I'll care much about the details and accuracy as much (as long as it doesn't go overboard or over exaggerates. In the end, it's still a Hollywood movie)
