I have been wondering about this for a while now and after watching Zelenoff fighting it makes me want to more.
I wouldnt be looking to be a world champion but more like a way to make extra cash. Im in college right now so that would be great! My cousins in Mexico all box and one might be going pro soon. I have done some training as a kid and sparred a bit about 4 years ago.
How much does a beginner make first and what are the costs to getting a pro liscence? Also what are the steps you would have to take??
    ANy help would be appreciated.

I really dont want to turn this into a Zelenoff hate thread. There is already a pretty big one going on right now.
I just would like to know the procedure for becoming pro.

YOu sign up for a federal id, and then a promotor will put you on cards and depending on the state commission, some sort of physical.

To be honest im not really sure what you would have to do but i would suggest searching the internet for the state boxing commission from whatever state your from. For example, if your from New Jersey just go to google and search for "New Jersey state boxing commission"......that will probably lead you to a phone number which you could call to get further info....good luck

A guy in my gym was about 10 fights in with 10 wins and 9KO with a couple losses... and he was making about 3,000 give or take in some of those fights.

thats ALOT of money for someone with a 10--3 record.

    Beginners make about 100/round.

he was making some good money...He was fighting in Cicero Illinois outta UCC gym from Milwaukee..He was 10-0 with 9KO when he was making that kind of bank. The losses were towards the end but he was undefeated with a nice KO ratio until the point of his losses.

Ok so if i did amateur for a year then i could turn pro if i wanted to???
Remember i would just be doing it for the extra cash and hey i would just be facing guys with either bad records or beginners while getting paid.
    Its a win win.
