Agreed... we all can learn from this thread.

Some of the guys have made very valid points. I often learn not just from my own mistakes but that of others as well.

I do not believe the kid posted video on here to actually receive advice. That being said, he's just a young kid. Let him mature a bit before cats get on his case.

And Tommy, you might want to get a new screen name just to get a fresh start.

You definitely need a lower bag. :D My advice would be to keep off the weights for now, work on your defense and hand speed. Instead of just standing in front of the bag and unleashing wild hooks, use lateral movement, throw your jab constantly, more straight punches aswell, working your way onto the inside before you start throwing your hooks. Tighten those hooks up, aswell as keeping your chin down when you throw them, thats a knockout waiting to happen.

All of this may have already been said, but I havn't got time to read through all the comments. :good

just thought id add:good:good just read this properly. There is nothing wrong with going for it on the bag though i would suggest what you do is spend majority of the time on the bag concentrating on proper form and technique and then do a few rounds or as many as you can doing punch out drills. I would use mainly straights though not hooks. And just pump out as many as you can in 2 or 3 mins if your worried about fitness. But honestly mate technique is king! Good luck with everything and ill shut up now lol:thumbsup

stay in behind your punches, chin down!why are you punching so high?aim more for your head height.throw more jabs!mix up your speed..light & fast 5-10 punch combo.. hard heavy shots 1-3 punches.

Tommy man guys like you are really hard to coach, im one of the more experienced guys at my gym and give a little advice here and there. It's really hard when you talking to a guy and he is answering back with what he thinks.

Sometimes just nod and take on what is said, try out what they said and if it does not work for you then fine. Always take into account what people say first though, its hard to judge your own work...an outside view on things is very valuable. It's why boxers dont train them self!!

Im saying this because i used to be exactly the same, it took me a while to stop being an armchair expert and just listen to the guys who have been doing it for years.

There is nothing to be ashamed about in the video, it is your ATTITUDE on this thread that has turned people off, and may discourage them from helping you in the future. Add that to the fact that your form is purely garbage and this is a perfect recipe for ridicule.

Your straight punches are not straight.
