I dont realy know much about the guy and was hoping for some input. American 28-0 has a win over Medina , total whitewash winning almost every round. He also took Joe Greenes "0" . Anyone know anything about him i would love to know. Padded record? I am guessing he isnt a big puncher because most wins come via UD , is he fast? good chin? what style does he use?
his strength is his right hand and he has a good jab. He's a pretty standard 1-2 fighter. Roach has improved his footwork but it's still kind of shady. Same with his left hook. Also, he lacks focus in the ring. Doesn't really read punches well and get be taken out of his element. However, it's obvious that he has good power for the division. He is also tall and hard to handle for anyone. Especially alot of these more flat-footed southpaws in the division when you consider his strengths. I think the Ouma fights showed that a fighter with some bounce in his legs will trouble him. But the Green fight showed that it takes more than just fundamental skills and some pop to beat Vanes.
Annoying, but I kinda like watching his fights. Not a sure championship level boxer yet. But I like him, strangely. Hey, I like Valuev too. What's weirder than that?
This pretty much sums it up. IMO he seems like a very talented fighter, but looks like one of those emotional types that are just about to lose it. Supposedly he had problems with Roach. I do think he has a great chance to be great in the division, but needs to focus more and not get frustrated when things don't go his way and just follow the gameplan or adjust. Sometimes he reminds me of Jermaine Taylor where he gets confused if he should box or go for the ko. I think his best chances considering his frame and skills might be to fight more like a Tommy Hearns style, or a boxer/puncher. Sometimes it seems he's not using his advantages fully and fights more with his heart than his mind. If he Ouma put him down, I don't think he's ready for an Angulo or Kirkland, but would like to see him fight either in the future. For now maybe he can take on someone like Lovechild Julio.
I know him and Shane Mosley had a hell of Twitter war recently. I also know Vanes thinks Shane Mosley Jr. "sucks."
He seems like a skilled dude, but he's not using his full potential. He's too emotional when he fights. He got to act more professional and less emotional. He has to give more pressure, sit more on his punches and not making unnecessary movements. But apart from that, he seems decent. He should have easily defeated Ouma. I don't know what happened to him that night.
"Unbeaten middleweight Erislandy Lara (13-0, 8 KOs) has challenged unbeaten Vanes Martirosyan to prove who the best 154-pound prospect in the world is. “I’ve proven myself, especially this year, and now I want to let Vanes and fans around the world know that when you talk and my name comes out of your mouth, you better be ready to back it up,” said Lara. “If Vanes spent as much time in the gym as he did on the internet talking about real fighters, he might have been a world champion by now. I want the world to know that the talking stops here. I’ve told my team to make this fight and now it’s up to Vanes to see if he’s ready to put his money where his mouth is….Vanes calls himself the ‘Nightmare,’ but he can’t scare anyone with his fists. He’s your typical internet tough guy…a keyboard warrior afraid to step up and fight for real. I’m ready to go. Are you Vanes."
If he fights Lara he'll my respect for now he just sounds like a ***** over hyping himself .. his best win was against Ouma which was a controversial decision.
