Weigh-ins always invite some tea leaf reading to try to figure out who has the advantage, but what can you really tell? Some of the usual indicators people look for are dry or pale skin, sunken eyes/cheeks, lethargic movement, whether they rush for water after making weight, and how they act during the staredown. Do any of these things matter? What do you look for? If you bet, do you take these signs into account?
Generally I'm looking at the bulge in their draws. That's usually an indication of whom I'm going to back to win.
An excellent indicator. It’s typically foolproof though on the rare indication it can let you down. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/b...id-McGregor-erection-Mayweather-weigh-in.html
When I bet, I always take the stare down into account. Most times is just boring, but specially when there is heavy favorite, the "Eye of the Tiger" or "just happy to be there" look of the underdog can tell something of how the fight is gonna go. I betted on Kambosos against Teofimo solely based on their stare down and press conference. Felt Teo looked too comfortable while George was obsessed. Boxing is 75% mental
I look to see how drawn in the face is, skeleton looking is bad. You'll see it on fighters who are struggling to make the cut e.g. Spence, Brook. For heavyweights again the face tells more, no point looking at Fury's body. Look at his weight should be 260-275 and his face looks lean. Also the composure, if they are engaging in riff raff and nonsense or sulking there is a confidence problem. Wilder is a good case example, impossible to judge physically it's the mental side. The only real tell in the first 2 bouts that he was nervous was he wore a mask at the weigh in and the 2nd bout he was clearly rattled the moment he entered the arena. however 3rd bout he managed to compose himself, no mask and focused after his walk in. Whyte was rather subdued through the whole Fury event. Physically he was great but nobody cared about it.
