What do you make of Amir Khan's strange choice?

I think you just described it perfectly, strange.

It makes no sense, but then neither does his current progression.

I'm Scottish and obviously like Scottish boxers to do well but I'm not blinded towards them.

The main problem with Khan is that he has fought no-one and thinks he is world class. These are not the words of a sane man and if you believe he is world class based on the actual performances against the opposition he has faced, then your problem isn't xenophobia.

He's also been involved in a few incidents that have hardly endeared him to everyone - his court case and his treatment of Oliver Harrison.

Personally, declaring Michael Gomez as world class when he was 3 years past his best, fighting at a higher weight than usual, and never got beyond British title level in his prime, was particularly sick inducing.

    IMO.

A beard cannot be improved - a guy can be KD'd a lot if he isn't able to put sufficient mass on his legs due to the necessity to balance the scales, a move up in weight can sometimes help.

Blocking punches with your face may have something to do with the matter, in Amir's case anyway.

The biggest problem for Khan chin aside, is his amateurish response to any sort of pressure. That's going to get him starched very quickly, because any reasonable fighter will see his uncomfort and fear and go for the kill.

He actually has some of the tools to mask a bad chin. Good length and jab, fast hands and varied offence to keep a guy occupied. He really needs to learn to hug and hold, at the very least. Steward would be good for him.
