Froch will always be well respected for his willingness to fight anyone. The fact is every time he stepped up he has lost and will do this time. Calzaghe beat kessler before froch lost to him and that says a lot really
Chisora deserves a lot of credit then. So does Ricky Hatton. Ricky fought in America 4 times in a row against top guys.
I have no allegiance to Chisora, but ............ 1. His last win was against Remigijus Ziausys (11/11/2011) - I'm not commenting on the quality of the opponent but that is only approx 6 months ago....... 2. Before that he lost to Tyson Fury, so you could say that Chisora's unbeaten record ended on the 23/07/2011. So in just under 10 months Dereck has had 4 fights, actually it was 4 in 7 months first to last, pretty impressive by heavyweight standards. Ok he has lost 3 of those 4, all against good or better opposition. Not saying he is anything special, just the facts...............:bbb
I think it will mean he'll be remembered as someone who wasn't scared of losing. Champions shld fight each other and there can only be one winner. Calzaghe may be the more talented boxer but i'll view froch's record more favourably even if he ends with several in the L column.
I think it was a very respectable run of opponents, he basically offered up to fight anyone given to him in the S6 tournament and didn't ***** out once, fought a lot of his fights abroad too. I think you also have to factor in the fact he beat Pascal in a barnstormer title win and then immediately took on Taylor in the US. It might get over-rated a little but I'd rather do that than in any way belittle his accomplishment.
I think the run of fights is slightly overated when considered Pascal didnt do a thing at SMW Taylor was 1-2 in his last 3 fights coming in Dirrells best win was Oganov Kessler was unwell and coming in off a loss Abraham was coming in off a loss Johnson was a SMW journeyman and was 0-4 in his last 4 title fights But on the flip side and what does deserve full credit is that Froch has travelled abroad in 5 of his last 6 fights which is very game and even after such alot of travelling wich I think took it out of him a bit, he is taking on who I think is the best SMW next. Froch is very slow with a low workrate yet he seemed to expose Ward as with those disadvantages and with Frochs advanced age he was getting to Ward at the end and Ward seemed to get tired In truth its a good run of opponents with Ward, Kessler and Bute but I dont think he will beat Bute which will mean he would be 0-3 in his big fights
If we're rating boxers on purely the opponents and not the actual result/performance, how good has Mosleys run of opponents been??
I have seen this said before and as win resumes go Moselys isnt as impressive as many think, but Mosely has taken on all comers
