What do you think of him? What do you think of him? The several weight jumps of his career, his current jump from 135 to 147 coming against Aydin, and his recent severe injury provide material for opinion. I personally think he has had a good career and a slightly underrated one from what I can tell. His jumping to welter will be impressive if successful over the long haul. I think he beats Aydin but am not that confident in the pick and will be interested to see how his body looks and how he carries the weight. His injury is scary no doubt. Combined with weight jumping, you've got to imagine that his best punching days are behind him. Maybe not. Here is a listing of what I find to be his notable fights (per boxrec): 2005, 125.5 lbs, L SD12 Gameliel Diaz (19-5-2) 2006, 126 lbs, W KO6 Gameliel Diaz II (20-5-2) 2006, 124.5 lbs, W RTD8 Eric Aiken (16-4) Aikens' IBF featherweight title 2006, 126 lbs, NC ND12 Orlando Salido (27-9-2) IBF failed defense 2007, 126 lbs, W TKO9 Spend Abazi (35-1) vacant IBF featherweight title 2007, 126 lbs, W TKO1 Martin Honorio (24-3-1) IBF defense 2008, 126 lbs, W KO8 Jason Litzau (23-1) IBF defense 2009, 130 lbs, W UD12 Malcolm Klassen (24-4-2) Klassens' IBF super featherweight title 2010, 138 lbs, W UD10 Joel Casamayor (37-4-1) 2010, 133 lbs, W UD10 Vicente Escobedo (22-2) 2011, 134 lbs, W UD12 Michael Katsidis (27-3)
He's made it hard to like him with his constant weight hopping and not sticking to one division to dominate. He's also become a sad, desperate attention-***** over the past year or so - which has totally put me off him.
I was a big fan of his after I first saw him fight against Litzau. His career has been so stop-start since then, with his wife's cancer and injury problems sidelining him, and he's never quiet lived up to my hopes. Still a real good fighter. I can see him being very vulernable at 147 though, he's never seemed particularly durable which is why Aydin could be a tough fight. Looks like he's in a hurry to build his name, get the big fights and the big money, which is why he's moving to 147 IMO. With Marquez and Rios moving up, he could be the number 1 lightweight in the world, which is why I'd like to see him stay there, but he might struggle to make the weight at this point in his career, and there's much bigger fights for him at 147.
