I admire his tiny handful of fans who insist he is a star, no fan base, fights in front of a couple of thousand at most, not a household name and yet his handful of fans are convinced he is big time. You have to admire delusion on that level.
He's on course to being THAT guy, at least in the boxing world. I appreciate that he works hard, comes to fight, is uber talented, and actually wants to prove he is the best. He respects other fighters (when it's warranted), he is a family man, and he, stands by his beliefs. He is not so much a commercial star, but, he is a leader...and a winner. Hard to dislike the guy, unless you harp on his inactivity and not really traveling, outside the Bay Area to fight, very much. Being in the Bay it's a win for me. But, I can understand how others might want the opportunity to see him live. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
Completely doing a number on Carl Froch, Froch gave us a comedy gold moment as well, as the decision was being called out Froch had the nerve to hold his arm in the air in anticipation, it was probably the most one sided fight in history.
He fights an intelligent, disciplined fight and sticks to the plan. It's not always the most pleasant way to win but he wins. He doesn't let his opponents fight their fight. There a lot to dislike too but that's another thread.
The results are in. Ward believing himself to be the second coming is the most noble of his many facets. http://www.rightcrossentertainment.com/images/AndreWard_Dogfite1.jpg
The win-at-all-costs mentality he approaches each fight with, both in preparation and on fight night. You can say all you want to about his personal life or how things may be managed, but even if you're not a fan, you've got to give him that. He doesn't take anyone lightly and is a tough out because of his adaptability and boxing IQ.
He's enormously skilled, without a doubt. I just take exception to being told my dislike of him has anything to do with race or Golovkin.
I don't blame you. Kinda funny how any kind of criticism gets reduced down to lowest common denominator BS like that. Who knows, maybe picking fights based on that leads to more posting, but it seems more like a troll tactic to keep people riled up by purposefully ignoring the point.
It was Dirrell who initiated that fiasco. I'm sure Ward has some part in that but it was mostly cowardly Dirrell whom first tried to extort SHowtime for more money (Supa 6 contract purses done in advance) and then when threatened with lawsuit he bails and goes see the good Dr. Shaw High and found a concussion that they didn't find the night and week after the Abraham cheap shot. Most of this info is not known. But that is what happened.
