I say AA's biggest negative is a lack of workrate. He almost looked like films Ive seen of Marciano launching hard ass shots in those black trunks, the difference is Marciano had a relentless workrate that would cave a guy in.

AA has terrible footwork its not smooth, its choppy and awkward he was telegraphing his shots. I dont think his chin is the granite that Frochs seems to be or he would have taken more chances early.

AA is strong and hits hard thats it! a one dimensional slugger. Any hard punching long fighter with good lateral movement and a decent beard would give AA trouble.

he needs to throw more as AA is exciting and good for boxing but the blue print to beating him is minted: laterel movement and hard body shots, combo and move throwing hooks to the sides of his guard.
dont get KTFO and coast to a decision.

He allows himself to be dominated. If you can box and move you can develop a lead and if you can stay out of trouble late you can survive to a decision.

    - Slow and awkward footwork
    - No lateral movement
    - No head movement
    - Keeps his hands too high which leaves his body open all the time
    - When he gets hit (even on gloves) he just resets. Doesn't slip punches, doesn't counter. Dirrell was able to keep him off balance and confused just by throwing punches.

What Pimp C and zicas said

I think we all knew these were his weaknesses before the fight. I just thought Dirrell would get hit with some bombs eventually and not have the chin to take it.

I can't for the life of me figure out why he doesn't fight all 12 rounds. He is content to sit behind his gloves for long stretches, especially early. It allows his opponent to rack up points and confidence.

AA doesn't like being hit to the body in any way shape or form. It became comical to watch AA complain each and everytime AD landed a solid body shot round after round. It got to the point where it became a drinking game during the fight. Everytime AA looked at the ref after a solid body shot...I took a shot of 151.

He can be defeated by a fighter who

    - has an excellent overall skill-set
    - is fast, both with his hands and on his feet
    - has a big reach advantage
    - is in great shape and can go all 12 rounds without fading too much

I don't see any other fighter in the tournament who meets the attributes mentioned above...

Other than that AA HAS to be more active right from the start. If he can fix that, he would perhaps even be able to beat a fighter who has the specified attributes.

    Flat footed.
His defense is LEAKY against a good enough boxer. Dirrell was getting through easily. Clottey or Winky have a better turtle shell defense.
Looping punches, lunges with his punches.

That said, I think there's something about the way he throws his punches, that although it seems amateurish, it also seems awkward, and dangerous.

Honestly a good counter puncher with power would counter AA when he lunges in like that and stop him. I think Dirrell has the tools to knock him out even if his power is not A+.

I have a slightly different take on his weakness. He is short and doesn't have the stylistic elements to make up for it, IF he faces a fighter with Dirrell's ability for movement. I don't see his head movement or footwork as that poor, just that as a short fighter he would better movement if he faces a tall, speedy fighter.
