I think he should be fighting someone else like Glenn Johnson or Kessler?

Tarver had the rematch clause, so Chad is most likely putting a brave face on......

Johnson is entitled to a rematch though - I scored their fight a draw.

Tarver was beaten hands down, it wasn't as if it was a lucky punch or dodgy scoring.

Yeah but he doesn't have to grant the rematch right away.

It means that Calzaghe's going to retire or have one last fight vs Taylor

I think Dawson should fight Glen Johnson or go up in weight and face Adamek. That would be a huge fight.

Glen Johnson deserves the rematch, but Tarver had a rematch clause, politics rules the game and always has.

    Bull**** fight.

Just goes to prove that Dawson had plenty of time to fight both Diaconu and Tarver, there was never a choice between the two.

He could have gone to Bucharest for a career high payday, kept his WBC title, the taken on Tarver in a unification fight. Being a unified champion would give him more profile and leverage and the whole experience of fighting abroad against a hostile crowd would have been an invaluable learning experience for him.

And we would have got to watch two relevant fights, rather than one relevant one and one bull**** rematch.

Smart Business move by Dawson, At this stage Tarver has no chance to beat Chad.
(Tho, Id still be hoping for a Magic Man Victory)

Why wouldn't he wait to see if Calzaghe retires first? We know the announcement isn't coming till after the holidays and the Tarver rematch could wait.

This leads me to believe they never made Kessler a serious offer. Time for Dawson to quit fighting old men and step things up.

My guess is he's been told by the Calzaghe camp that JC is retiring.

I hope that's the case because that is the only justification for this fight other than easy money for Dawson. Does absolutely nothing for his career.

Nah Calzaghe has been quite straight that he ain't deciding until the new year.

Don't see that Dawson fighting in March would affect a possible Calzaghe fight (which would be in summer) either way.

Although I still think it unlikely that Dawson and Shaw will actually make an attractive enough offer to Calzaghe to tempt him.

do we know that Calzaghe's been "quite straight" about this... as I understand it has privately said that's it, and even publicly he might has well have said it outright.
