Erik has not declared that he is seeking a title and his career did not end how he wanted to end it. Financially, he is fine as the salary he received from the city was donated back to the city by him.

I am going to wait and see how he looks before I condemn him for coming back.

A very valid point indeed Arriba...I am starting to want to call this the "Holyfield Syndrome"

Holyfield is coming back for money though or as I call it the "Child Support" boxing clause.

I have not a clue why Morales is coming back because from all accounts, he's okay financially. My guess is he wants to end his career with a win of sorts.

Yes, I can see why Holyfield needs to come back. But Morales is a different story entirely. I agree, perhaps he does just want one last good win to go out with a bang.

Maybe he's just bored I dunno.

Somebody should introduce him to a bowling league.

I think if he feels like he still has a bit more gas in his tank, he should have just 1 more farewell fight against a relatively safe opponent, so that he can have 1 more final win as a bookend for his HOF career.

But if it's a serious comeback, then no.

Eric said two years ago that he would be back after two years of retirement just what his idol julio cesar chavez did. My concern is if he can make the welterweight limit because the last time I saw his pic he was like 220 pounds.

Depends purely upon how well he succeeds in his first fight, and given that he has historically rebounded very well after prolonged rests, ie the year off he took before decking Barrera in their second outing, I would imagine the 2 1/2 years of rest, recuperation and refeed will have done him a power of good, and given that he's still the sunny side of 33, he has a pretty good chance against any of the guys outside the top 5 at 140.

If he crushes Alfaro, (whose brightest night was only against an o.t.h Chop-Chop so I think he will) I daresay Erik will let his newly regained confidence go to his head. I hope Erik actually struggles against him, squeezes out the UD or at best a very late, hard-earned Tko after taking knockdown himself, and calls it a career. But I think he'll smash Alfaro the patsy like a train hitting a Ford Cortina, people will hail, "King Erik has returned!", the promoters don't give a **** and match him up with Khan, and that's that.

For all his earlier greatness, he never was the smartest guy who stepped through the ropes, he hardly ever bothered to jab with his unearthly 72" reach, a gift from God he never availed himself of, but one he'd now desperately need, far more so at 140 with the prevalence of guys closer to his own height or taller. And you know you can't teach older dogs new tricks.

So, yeah, I'll be watching, shame I won't be Stateside by a mere fortnight, but I hope against hope he will end his career there and then, not assault the top 5 and end up getting pummeled to a bloody heap in his final bout like his nemesis Barrera.

He must be inspired by watching Rocky Balboa (Rocky VI).

How much did he made in his career respectively? And would he still be trained by his father in this comeback?

He has taken way too many punches.
