It goes both ways. If they were wearing 8 oz gloves, Mayweather may have gotten more than just a busted up nose.

Floyd didn't impress me one bit... Pacquiao would crush him! No doubt about it... Would be easy work for Manny...

That shoulder roll is simply not effective against the straight left hand dominant fighters, either from the unorthodox south paw or orthodox stance. He has to adopt the high guard and "stalk" to avoid the piercing lefts, that has been a consistent feature of his style for a long, long long time. Oscar with his super left, Zab with his fast left, Cotto with his great jab, Sharmba Mitchell actually landing, Corley landing ... he usually has to fight the guys who have an unorthodox angle.

He should beat Pac, but I wouldn't be suprised at all with a flash knock down or KO coming from a punch he never sees. There is a reason this fight hasn't happened, and Floyd is a lot smarter than Pac.

Ortiz was landing on him. No way a guy that caliber and style would put a glove on him at 135.

Cotto bloodied his face and was clearly winning rounds. Again, never would have happened in years past.

    The guy is obviously declining.

Cotto did not land a straight left that entire fight. In order for it to be a straight left Cotto would have to box out of the South Paw stance which he did not. So he landed a few jabs. Big deal. He got hit with a lot more. Not to mention he landed more jabs on Pac.

What are you talking about? It's a fight you are going to be hit. :patschOrtiz did not land anything significant the entire fight, all the while getting straffed with straight rights. The key to Floyd's success is his adjustments and his stamina.

The only fighter Floyd fought who couldn't touch him was Gatti.
Maybe you should go back and watch some of his old fights

Ortiz averaged 6 punches landed per round.

Marquez, a lw moving up 2 divisions, bloodied Manny.

I agree in he has declined...but not to the sense that some of you are making it out to be...ANY fighter not named Hopkins has declined by 35....Floyd still the best in the world, even as a declined fighter.:deal

Cotto did not hurt him, get out of here with that nonsense.

Well, I'm sure he was hurt, but if you are implying that he was ever anywhere close to being stunned, I would say you are out of your mind.

I've been watching Floyd since he fought Angel Manfredy in 1998, which is my entire point, Floyd is getting hit a lot more lately and by guys who wouldn't put a glove on him in the past.

As for Ortiz, there is a lot more going on in the ring than punches landing, and Ortiz was bullying Floyd at times. I expected Floyd to pitch a shut out against Ortiz and was amazed that Ortiz was roughing Floyd up, shoving him around and landing punches at all.

Gatti, for example, had the ability to box or go to war. Anyone who followed him knows that while early in his career he was mainly a slugger, he was also an amateur champion and on the Candian National team. Under new trainers, later in his career, he came out with a more technical boxing style and was actually descent at it. His only problem was that he liked to mash the gas and start brawling and forget the technical style.

For some crazy reason he did the exact opposite and tried to box Floyd. He should have done exactly what Hatton & Cotto did, apply as much pressure as possible, work the body and stay close to limit his range.

Either way... I agree, Gatti was a one sided beat down. No doubt about it, but that is another topic.

Floyd is better than I thought he was. Nevertheless, he suffers the same disease that infects a lot of fighters with speed: the speed is drained against a good and determined puncher. People say Floyd looked slower - I disagree. Floyd was challenged!

Floyd's speed and accuracy against a Baldomir just ain't gonna' be the same as against a Cotto....or a Pacquiao.

Floyd was untouched vs Ortiz...Ortiz was getting hit by right hand after right hand after right hand...

Your taking 2 fights of Floyd's career and using them to form an opinion...i'll look at every fight since he came back..Shane caught him good in one round, twice...Floyd has been hit before man...Corley hit Floyd more than Ortiz did.:deal That was in Floyd's prime to...

Cotto was tough and was able to hit Floyd because of his size and his strength...nothing more...he was able to get inside and hit Floyd at times because he's that strong...

    I dissagree with ya though.
