I find it the least offensive of the uncalled fouls. The problem is refs are way to varied in what they decide to enforce and when. I find holding and bending over to oral sex level when coming in much worse from a fight flow perspective. I'm half serious when I say if the guy standing in front of you bends over so far you can pop him in the back of the head you should be allowed to do so.
ermm I told you what I thought about pushing in boxing... My favourite fighter today is probably Floyd Mayweather My favourite fighter of all time is Tommy Hitman Hearns What does that have to do with anything?
It depends on the type of push, the purpose and the frequency. If it's a blatant shove that sends the opponent flying then that's obviously way out of line. If it's a little push to maintain distance and keep the action flowing then I'm all for it, especially if the opponent is excessively clinching or trying to smother. If it's a push designed to prevent the opponent infighting and is done excessively then it's up to the referee's judgement on what to do. I don't think it's the worst foul in the world anyway.
Boxing is a physical sport. Pushing is natural. Hagler and Hearns in round one pushed each other with their shoulders to push the other one back to get punching room. Just a normal tactic.
