I'm not really sure about it. If you watch leonard pre duran 1 he fought very similar to the way he fought that night IMO. Leonard was at that point primarily a boxer puncher. Looking back in hindsight it is possible to say he fought the wrong fight, but can we really say that leonard, the bigger, quicker arguably harder hitting fighter made the wrong decision to stick to a game plan that for me was quite natural for him against a smaller man? I think leonard needed the 1st fight to come up with the gameplan for the 2nd, by that i mean i believe leonard learnt that he needed to change his style to get anything done against duran, he realised just how good duran was in montreal. This lead him to use far more lateral movement than he normally would and engage less and only with flashy combos design to impress the judges. He couldn't be aggressive against roberto because duran was too good, i think this combined with a slightly off his game duran lead to the turn around in the 2nd fight
