well put mr butt.he had a weak chin and uptil he won the title he had trouble recovering from taking a big shot.he wouldn't hold on or run
    so he got found out.
there was nothing wrong with his heart though

Some fighters are knocked out on their feet. Bruno was defenseless getting pummeled in all his losses, I would say thats knocked out. You dont have to be stretched out on the canvas to be knocked out.

The second Tyson fight was the end of his career. The first fight he gave Tyson problems early, no doubt about that and Tyson resorted to some dirty tactics. He stung Lewis, too, early, even Lewis admitted as much and it still went 7. Furthermore, you are talking about two HOF opponents who could take out any fighter at almost any time. Lewis took out Ruddock in 2. We don't label him as excessively chinny. I don't think many opponents were dumb enough to go out all out and try to chincheck Frank from round one, though plenty try that with someone like Wlad.

I do understand where your coming from, but in relation to this thread, im assuming we're talking about his punch resistance, which wasnt great. Ok, he didnt go down often and he stayed on his feet, but he was out on his feet so its no big difference. Once he was tagged it was 'goodnight irene'. Its not as if he took these shots and was still in the fight. He had good heart though, i'll give him that

    He couldn't really 'take it'.
He couldn't come back from when he was badly hurt. He folded. He crumbled, physically and mentally.
He fell apart a few times, like Ron Lyle did against Ali.

There should have been a good chin option imo, that's what I would have voted for. There's a difference between ability to handle a shot, loosing because of stamina issues and loosing by clear ko.

How many times was the man knocked out cold?

When you watch the Tyson/Lewis fights watch his eyes the minute the ref jumps in, he's fully aware of where he is, just doesn't have the energy to do anything about it.

Let's remember he was only KO'd by guys who at one time held a share of the belt and who all had a deserved reputation as monster hitters. It's not like some gatekeepers were KO'ing him.

Yes but he loses control of his body and his arms specifically. Weve had this discussion before. Some guys short circuit in different ways. Bruno may have had his eyes open, but he was out of control of his body. To me thats pretty much the same as being knocked out. Thats why his trainer was always ready to jump in and wave the fight off, because Bruno would become defenseless even if he was "conscious".

I'd say this fight about sums it up. Poor survival skills along with suspect stamina are a bad combination to have. He could take the punches, but when he was hurt, there was no coming back.

He was definitely out on his feet against Cummings.

I'd put Brunos losses mainly down to his mentality and endurance, if his chin was average he'd be on his back against a lot more than he was. Look at the amount of bombs he took from Smith, McCall, Lewis, Spoon and Tyson. Brunos problem was due to his bulk when the late rounds came (esp against Spoon/Smith) he'd take a huge shot and be so exhausted didn't really know what to do next. He'd then take 5-6 more huge shots before falling, an average chin wouldn't take those shots.

I guess it comes down to what constitutes an average chin - good chin. He only lost to hard hitting champions, an average chin gets ko'd by average powered boxers imo.

Jumbo Cummings was a big strong guy but I'm not sure he was a real powerful puncher, he hit a completely shot Joe Frazier enough times with causing anything like the effect he had on Bruno.
Bruno was a bit green then, it was before even the Smith fight.

It was not so much the chin it was usually stamina. He was put down a few times but usually lost by stoppage and not KO.He would seem to run out of gas and the big muscles would start to tie up.He then became an easy target and the ref or corner would have to stop him taking any more.
