Sorry to start another Floyd v Pac drug-testing topic, but given most have been about flaming one party or the other, I'd like to ask each of you what you think is a reasonable drug-testing regime. Me, I reckon: Blood Test #1 - When the fight is formally announced at the first press conference - obviously behind the scenes. Blood Test #2 - During camp, 10-14 days prior to the fight. This gives each fighter time to recuperate. Blood Test #3 - Immediately after fight in each locker room. Urine Samples at 3-4 day intervals during training camp. I think that's pretty reasonable. One at the start, one during the intense part of camp may seem a little disruptive, but with 10-14 days left I think it's a good time to take one and it will give each fighter a chance to recuperate in time for the fight. It shouldn't disrupt last minute prep and sparring has usually finished by then anyway I believe. Then one after the fight. Urine samples aren't as strenuous obviously and so I think these should be taken often and regularly. So, what's your proposal?
i dunno but i think we need more threads on the subject to know what we are dealing with here, nah sayin ?
Random is random, not scheduled. If it must be scheduled, than the tests should be more often, to not allow for strategic cycling.
I know it's on the same subject, but I thought I'd at least contribute something a little different by giving people a chance to map out their own proposal, rather than the '**** Pacquiao, he should take the test' or '**** Floyd, why is he asking for the test' topics that are polluting the forum at the moment.
You can take that random **** and stick it up your ass. they do random testing in cycling and they still cant caught the cheaters, what Tommy V proposed is more than fair considering that this is probably the first time something like this will happen.
It should be random. Why?....because its random for a reason. All I would say is not within the three days before the fight.
They will end up agreeing to something like this. Right now its just great for them to create the drama and leave it out there over the holidays to simmer among the public. Its so funny, because its really not a big or tough issue to solve. They are milking it for what they can. Gotta love it.
True. In fact, as I said earlier I wouldn't be surprised if the terms were thrushed out and signed already. I definately think the fight will happen.
The tests need to remain random. They should just add a special clause to the testing to state that no random test will be done 3 days prior to the fight. All other days during training are open for blood tests as long as it does not fall within 72 hours of the fight. The whole point is to have the random tests DURING TRAINING. Otherwise it is a pointless gesture.
Bottom line, Floyd and his father are playing hardball here. They know their accusations are essentially groundless, but they also know that the atmosphere in the sports world regarding steroids gives their position traction. Meanwhile, Pacquiao is helping to give them traction by clinging to a set of backwards, third world superstitions. I'm all for guaranteeing that the biggest fight of this decade, really this generation, is PED free, however, I resent the disrespect the Mayweathers are showing to Manny on this topic. They are using issues that go beyond Pacquiao, and in some ways beyond boxing, to gain some kind of psychological leverage, and it stinks. I wish Manny would acquiesce to every test they can imagine. Frankly, I wish he'd take a **** in Ellerbe's face. But I understand that from a negotiating and personal standpoint, he might not want to. The bottom line, unfortunately, is that Floyd beat him to the punch by claiming the "moral high ground" on a trumped up issue. It doesn't seem like it's going to go away without Manny conceding something.
