I know what your saying, but their are/were a lot of nak muays that do "fight smart" buakaw naksamnoi saenchai somrak khamsing samart petrosyan muay thai fighters styles can be diverse. guy like bovy =brawler Jongsanan = brawler - many of you have seen his fight with sakmangol very brutal khem is another who doesnt mind trading blow for blow seanchai- not so much, good luck landing clean on him. guys like him get very aggressive when a strike lands clean- watch out he is coming for payback! I would also say muay thai is the best MA for kicking, they may not use the variety that taekwando or karate does but it is effective nevertheless.
Id say Kyokushin because they cant punch to the head so they have to focus alot of their striking for setting up a kick to the head instead. Most of their fights go on with opponents trying to take each other legs out first and then come on top with a roundhouse kick of a backspin. Muay Thai is more complete martial art thats no doubt, Kyokushin tho is sooo much about kicking
here's a vid of saenchai, he toys with fighters like a cat toys with a mouse. one of the smartest fighters I have ever seen. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jmK2zusIlA[/ame]
Has to be Muay Thai imo. The kicks it utilises are both powerful and extremely effective. I think also the use of the shin rather than the foot to strike in Muay Thai puts it above the others in terms of how devastating the strikes are. I can't comment on Karate, but quite a few of the kicks taught in TKD are pointless and by prohibiting leg kicks, it limits itself even further. Having said that, you see some awesome KO's in Taekwondo competitions.
The Kyokushin round kick is the thai kick. There best three fighters lived and trained in Thailand in the 50's and bought it back into the style.
I made a very light statement and I certainly didn't assert that all Thai boxers are dumb shits. However, and I maintain this, many of them could benefit from more of a boxer's mindset - the best Thai boxers you see have probabaly realised this.
Well a lot of it has to do with the scoring system as well. Knees, elbows, kicks, and throws all give more points than punching does. That means besides kicks, all of the highest scoring moves are up close and personal. So yes, they do have to take more punishment, but it is in the exact same mindset as that of a boxer. Outscore your opponent.
