I would also rank Anthony Dirrell and Robert Stieglitz ahead of Bute as well. And I believe George Groves could beat him too if they fought, although I wouldn't have Groves ranked above him now.

Good fighter with excellent power and abysmal defense and ring generalship. Not as good as I thought he was.

That type of lose is not the good learning experience kind. That was the kind of brutal one-sided beatdown that ruins fighters. Besides it's not like he can look at the tape and see what he did wrong, Bute didn't do anything wrong. He just couldn't take Froch's punches. Not much to learn from that, other than don't fight fighters with good or better punching power that can put good combinations together.

Bute is finished. Yesterday he was still a king, today he's just another beggar. He's 32, it's too late to learn lessons and change styles, unless he beats Froch and Ward in the next 18 months his legacy will be that of an overprotected overhyped bum. Look at the interview after the fight. He looks desperate and broken. This is what the sudden realization that you lost EVERYTHING does to most men. Couple this in his case with the sudden shock of finding out that you're not SMW's Top Gun like he surely thought he was and you have all the ingredients of an ugly career end. I hope for him and for boxing that he'll rise from the ashes but I don't think it will happen.

Isn't boxing such a fickle sport???

One of the reasons why it's in poor shape and why "champions" are scared to fight each other. One minute your amazing, the next minute your a bum.

It's ****ing stupid. Bute is a good boxer. Instead of picking him apart, hows about giving Carl Froch some credit on a fight he got tactically perfect.

Froch = at home = on another level. He always puts in a better performance.

Bute has my respect. He went into frochs house and fought his heart out.

I want to see more fighters fight on foreign soil. It brings the Lynch mob paranoia to a fighter, just to make it fun.

Dude please, the vast majority of those defenses were cherry-picked catered to his style, or mandatory's who were usually limited one dimensional fighters with their own padded records. Not one of those title defenses was against any of the divisions elite. Last night was the first one, and we all saw what happened. Any B level fighter with a alphabet trinket could rattle off 10 defenses always fighting at home, against limited, handpicked opponents, and when one of them actually got the better of him, he had the home cooking of crooked officiating to bail him out. Lucian is a slightly above average fighter with a very shaky chin, great against the right opponents, but falls to pieces against world caliber competition.

Face it Bute was a exposed fraud, but I will say a total class act in defeat, him and his crew.

I'm shocked at his lack of defense, didn't see it before. He'd still have to be around #5 in the division and no doubt he's much better than guys like Stieglitz/Abraham etc.... also stylistically he matches up better with Ward/Dirrell than Froch/Kessler. Kessler would kill him too!!! Ward has no pop so Bute would last in that fight and win some rounds along the way since Ward gave a bunch up to the likes of Bika and other dudes who ain't anywhere near his level.

Seeing Bute without that belt now places him firmly in the rankings of the other alphabet orgs.

With the right comeback fights, he could very well work back into contention and challenge Ward or Steig/Abe and regain the title himself.

Last night did however prove many of his antagonists correct in that being a stay at home fighter does him no favors. He looked completely lost when that bell rang and the crowd roared when Froch dropped that R hand over his guard.

He didn't hear the crowd roaring when he landed his own bombs and didn't follow up on them either because of it.

I'm of the opinion that Bute is at a point today that Wladimir was at when Sanders KHTFO and took his pride 10 yrs ago. And Im of the opinion that Bute, like Wlad will return from this beatdown twice as good as he ever was.:think

He was totally lost in there. Not taking anything away from Froch, but he benefited greatly from a man who was absolutely ****ing lost when that bell rang. Total collapse of his ability.

I mean he came out pawing with the jab. He was smiling at Froch as if this were some kind of staged event. The Froch saw how Bute was awestruck and blasted him. Bute smiled and shook it off, then suddenly he realized.....hey, im in a ****ing fight here.

Froch was admittedly tentative because Butes early L hands hurt him, but when he saw Bute had no faith in himself, it was over. :think
