This has probably been done again, I just wanted to get some fresh views here.

Miguel Cotto lost big to Antonio Margarito, and people's opinions about him differ after that fight.

Some call him a "quitter" cause he chose not to get further punishment after 10 1/2 brutal rounds, others respect him cause he put up a good effort against a fighter who probably has his number, stylewise.

My opinion: I believe he did quit technically, but that doesn't mean in any way that he lacks heart and/or that he is a coward. He took that beating like a man, made the sane choice to not continue since he (and everyone who watched the fight) felt he didn't have the strength to endure any further punishment by Margo and he didn't make ANY excuses after the loss.

What do you think of Cotto after that loss? Vote and discuss! :good

Much respect for Cotto, he gave his all

To me, he didn't quit, but was beaten, having given all he had.

I respect him, just like before the fight.

I don't care that he didn't want to continue the fight ("quit"). That is meaningless.

He's still a great athlete.. People want to call him a quitter, but personally, I'm glad he took a knee instead of fighting on in risk of getting KO'd.. He excepted defeat like a true professional and not to mention he wants a rematch.. He was one of my favorite boxers before the Margo fight and he still is..

Aside from Margarito, I think he still beats everyone at 147, including Paul Williams.

I respect him but thought he was better. Those big guys at 147 are too big for him.

He is still a very good fighter who can still become great obviously the loss is a setback but he is young and still have time to be great. Cotto is still a threat for anyone at 147 including Margarito (remember folks he was outboxing margarito easily the first half of the fight), I believe he will bounce back nicely. I still do not get why some people bash the guy he is always willing to fight the best at 147 isn't that what its all about? As for him so called quitting I would like to believe he took the knee because he did not want to hurt his family or himself physically anymore. He seems like a very humble guy and I think his family seen enough (I think someone in his family was crying after the fight if I remember). I mean Duran quit against SRL and I did not hurt his status much if ever.

Imo only Margarito, Williams, and possibly Clottey (I think he would beat him too) can give him problems.
He beats everybody else at 147 with relative ease.
