Do you think he's drained at 147, he seems to have a pretty big weight cut and that's why he gasses and slows down by the midpoint of fights or do you think he just lacks heart, he seemed very defeated after Vergil Ortiz and Terence Crawford dropped him. Do you think he has much of a future at 147 pounds or should he consider a move up to 154
What do I think of him? Limited but a tough SOB. The man that got a genuine knockdown against Crawford too. That’s worth something in itself!
So is weight cutting an advantage or disadvantage because all we hear is how unfair it is when Canelo Crawford or Spence supposedly cut but this thread implies it's an inherently disadvantageous strategy here
Anyone with half a brain knows it depends on the fighter and what they have access too. Some guys like get the hookups with saline and IV’s, while others do not have that same power. There are guys who can dehydrate 15 lbs. of water and still perform while others are compromised. Same goes for MMA.
good skilled exciting fighter with very heavy hands. unlucky that hes been fighting in a strong division, most other divisions he'd have been a world champ does lack the heart that top fighters need though, when he gets hurt that's him done.
I don't think Matchroom wants him in with a real puncher. Too much risk after getting dropped twice by Peynaud. Anyways, I like Kavaliauskas a lot. He's one of those guys who stays in shape all year, so in theory his stamina shouldn't be an issue. The problem is that I think he's too bulky. He is a damn good boxer with heavy hands, but his work rate doesn't allow him to maximize his best attributes. He seemingly could have done better against Ortiz if he let his power shots go with frequency.
I like him to always seems up for a fight and willing to fight the best hopefully he can win a belt sometime maybe a interim jus to say he won one
