I dont think he was shot or sh*t I just dont think he was anywhere near as good as people like Gaz think he was. That said he was great for British boxing and the football fans with limited knowledge of boxing who thought he was a great fighter when he was far from it.

Urango and Paulie are good but nowhere near world class, Paulie for starters hasn`t got a world class punch and hasn`t stopped a fighter for years.

Paulie was handpicked by team Hatton to make Hatton look good because he didn`t have the tools to hurt him.To get a shot at Pac on the back of that win shows how money talks in boxing because Hatton wasn`t good enough to share a ring with Pac.

So how good do I think he was? Do I think he was an ATG or P4P number 1 or do I just think he was a decent, world class fighter for a number of years?

No offence but you really need to understand what the term "world class boxer" means. Both Urango and Paulie are indisputably world class fighters.

That is probably the worst statement I've seen made on the Brit forum this year.

Manny beat the living **** out of Cotto for 8 maybe 9 rounds, he beat the living **** out of a very poor Oscar the whole fight and knocked the Ricky the **** out but should Hatton be ashamed, no.

I feel he thought he could bully Pacman and sacked the gameplan he got proved completely wrong but he's not the only one, every man and his dog bet on Cotto in the brit forum thinking he was the stronger fighter and Oscar too but they all were well off the mark.

It's hard to judge Ricky Hatton when Marquez was made to look like a journeyman by Floyd and Cotto couldn't even make Manny flinch with full power left hooks.

Cotto will be damaged goods after this fight.

JMM could be considered damaged goods after PBF but he would still give Hatton a serious beating at any weight Hatton chooses.

Gaz if you think Paulie and Urango are top notch then thats your opinion and you are entitled to it.Urango hasn`t beaten any top class fighters while Paulie hasn`t had at TKO for over 6 years and has feather fists that wouldn`t put down a featherweight but if them being world class makes Ricky look better in your eyes then good for you.

I prefer to look past the spin the bullsh*t and the smoke and mirrors Hatton was good but he wasn`t as good as you think and he never beat a world class fighter who was in their prime.

He's still done more than the guy in your signature has done so far.;)

I wouldn't like to say how Haye would do a against top 30 or arguably higher All Time Fighter and power puncher.

Spare me the wise man "smoke and mirrors" cliche mate. I didn't say Paulie or Urango were "top notch" I said both were world class fighters and Hatton beat both when they were in their prime. If you don't think Paulie and Urango were "world class" then you don't understand what "world class" means. Both have fought and won titles at world class level over the last 3-4 years, that makes them world class.

I ask again, how good have I said Hatton was? He was a solid champion for a number of years and thats a very good fighter in my book. He's nowhere near Pac, PBF, Mosely etc but that doesn't mean he wasn't a VERY good fighter.

The guy in my avatar beat the then top pound for pound fighter in the world.

The guy in my signature is streets ahead of Hatton if you compare them at 24 fights and will surpass Hatton by miles and miles when 2010 is finished.Haye isn`t a fraud who picks the bones from a dead carcass like Hatton did ala Tsyzu and Castillo.

I wasn't talking about the guy in your avatar, I never mentioned him, and I really don't want to get into this but David Haye's resume, imo, is far from top, top draw.

You get no extra points in my book for fighting less fights and it's just as easily to turn it around and asked why this guy has losses to aged journeymen when he's fought so infrequently.

I like David Haye, but please don't try and bang on that his record is absolutly superb, while Hatton's is a total bag O' shite, as that is simply double standards.

FYI Marvin Hagler was generally considered the top P4P fighter at that time, not Curry.

He wasn't on the verge of being stopped in the 4th round. How have you lept to that conclusion when you just saw him take a pounding from rounds 7 or 8 onwards until Bayliss finally called a halt.

It sheds no new light on what happened to Hatton. Hatton's fight was as bad as it gets, a journeyman wouldn't have done much worse. There isn't really any way to spin that into a positive for Hatton. As for whether he's still got it in him to fight world class fighters we'll find out I guess.

What has the 37 year old Jean Marc Mormeck, who was blowing out his backside, done since losing to Haye?
