Surley the Klits must see Haye's numbers and be impressed though?

How many fighters drop belts to fight other fighters? Lots.

Why wasn't Chagaev's WBA title on the line when he fought the Wlad?

There is that.Haye brings far more $ than any other HW out there.

We can be sure that Haye will go ahead with the mandatory. He is clearly very proud of the belt and he has stated his desire to unify

Why on earth would Haye drop the belt he just won? His whole intention was to unify the division and become the first legit heavyweight champ since Lewis. Whether he'll come close to achieving it is another thing but thats his ambition.

Just to play Devil's advocate: Hatton hardly 'cleared out 140'. Other than Tszyu he was matched pretty safely. Mayweather, Cotto, Mitchell and Gatti were all around at the same time as Hatton and he was fighting the likes of Stewart and Olivares.

The same Ricky Hatton who, during the Sky TV coverage of the Matthew Hatton vs Lovermore Ndou, said that "I was beating Pacquaio by a country mile in the 2nd round until the knockout"?

    Deluded fool.

Hatton was massively overrated all along, a fraud. With each passing fight involving people he's been in with, it becomes increasingly obvious, to even the most deluded of idiots...surely starting with Wicky himself.
He is not shot, he was just never that good to begin with. Hardly rocket science.

Sorry for the late reply but theres a reason people lack support for JC, namely he fought nobody he knew he couldnt beat. For me he gets props for beating Lacy, Kessler and Hopkins and little else. I like JC as well but I can see why people are wary of his achievements. Hatton fought some of the best prime fighters in the world during his career despite having limited skills in comparison to JC and came out with a handful of impressive wins. He was a good fighter for sure.

Surely he deserves props for punching above his weight though? You just cant seem to please some people. Maybe Hatton should have avoided everyone and fought nobody and achieved god-like status on this forum like Joe Calzaghe and Chris Eubank.

In Hattons defence, you can see clearly here he caused more damage to Pacman then took in round 2

Great British fighter but his interviews over the last year or so have done him no favours at all.

As a fan myself these interviews are hard to listen to so God knows how it makes his large army of haters feel.

I don't think he's shot. He just got obliterated.
