    This is mostly for boxing fans outside the UK. Just want to know from you guys across the pond and around the world if you have seen much of DeGale. If so what do you think of his ability and how far do you think he will go. Personally i think he is a superb talent who, if he keeps his head right can do great things.
    Your thoughts please;

    Both him and Cleverly are guys that I'm yet to see fight, and I want to due to all the hype you brits on here give them. I hate watching fights on youtube though so there really isn't any way for me to watch them.

    Sky is the limit, and based on what I've heard from him and others, his dedication is there which is a maker or breaker of any talent. That Mayweather meeting last year (or was it 2009?) gave him the right impressions - you ARE allowed to talk trash, to sound cocky and overconfident and to believe in your God-given abilities if you train your ass off to the point that no one else can keep up and you reach the physical and mental maximum humanly capable - in every training session in every day of the camp and in every camp of your career. Dedication and hard work - as long as it's there, I don't see him losing anytime soon.

    Needs to get rid of the dirty tactics though, holding the head and hitting, going low, bending low, pushing with the forearm, using the shoulders and elbows on the inside - he does every borderlined illegal trick by the book, and whenever opportunity presents itself. Even though that's part of the positive mentality of fighters such as Floyd, Ward, Bradley (positive from their point of view), to do ANYTHING for the win, it's very negative from a sportstmanship standpoint.

    I just read an interview with him in Boxing Monthly, but I haven't seen him fight yet. Gauging by the interview, DeGale thinks his prospects are exceptional. lol. But he also seemed to have a good head on his shoulders - wants to take things slow before leaping up to Froch/Ward/Bute. I'm looking forward to seeing one of his fights, hopefully televised in the US.

    He's the best of all the British prospects coming into the pro ranks right now.

    A year ago I'd have said Groves, who DeGale would destroy within three rounds if they fought right now.

    So you think he's better than Cleverly and Brook?

    Yes.

    Cleverly will have a very good career for me so long as he tightens his defence up a bit. He's tall, got a long reach and lots of stamina, plus a bit of a dig too and a decent chin.

    Brook hasn't fought anyone. DeGale is probably more proven with the dominant stoppage over Paul Smith, who was being lined up for a WBO shot against Stieglitz.

    Kell is alright bullshitting about his power, but everyone he's faced has had a shaky chin and zero power to boot.

    If Brook wins a world title I'd be amazed, unless it's a bull**** interim title which ends up becoming a full title. He's not that good.

    Degale has surprised me by adapting so well and so quickly to the pro game. As an amateur I saw a pure counter puncher who could be overly cautious and seemed more like a slick spoiler rather than a potentially great boxer. But he he has proved me wrong and come on leaps and bounds as a pro and looks very seasoned already despite so few fights. If he can keep improving the sky is the limit.

    Wow, it's refreshing to hear u guys in the US talking up one of our fighters.

    My thoughts: degale simply is the bollocks. He doesn't have terrific power (despite what his KO ratio suggests) but he does a lot of things very very well. His combination punching is sound, his defence is just as good (not been hit yet) and he hasn't lost a round in his career. Don't forget lads, the guy has only had 9 fights. What was Hatton, Lennox, Naz, Joey C doing before they reached double fight figures? Eyeing up a WBO world title shot in what is probably the hottest division in boxing? Nope.

    He beats groves over 12 (or late stoppage), and wins a version of a world title later this year. An 11 fight world champion is something to be admired. Great talent, can't wait to see him progress.

    James 'destined to fail' DeGale is all hype, he is rubbish mate. He lost to George Groves in the Olympics, and is now ducking him in the pros. He is the UK version of Andre Berto ALL HYPE!
