What do you think of marcus jones performance?

I was impressed by Marcus - not so much his technique as it's very very raw- but his overall attitude coupled with his incredible strength and willingness to learn will make him very dangerous for anyone.

 

He has AWFUL standup and has no chin. Seems like an amazing person and a great athlete but it is what it is.

 

I think he lacks certain intangibles; fighting just might not be for him. Plenty of ability, more potential, but just the way he reacts in fights makes me think he wouldn't be able to push through in a tough spot.

It's like he views it as a hobby rather than a job or his passion; that makes it pretty easy to give up.

 

Make no mistake Congo would lay Jones flat on his back.

 

I'm no Kongo fan, but I would pick him to do just that.

I like Jones, but that is not a fight he wants to take.

 

It is not, Jones vs a smaller ground fighter might be intersting. But he is not a world beater on the ground either. He is a blue belt, but he does have some power in those hands.

 

stiff, rigid and robotic stand up coupled with a poor chin. his ground game and strength are impressive though.

 

I thought his ground game sucked against Roy Nelson. He lost because he had absolutely no defense and didn't know how to tie up a fighter. He seems like a nice guy and everyone seemed pretty sad he lost, but that don't matter much, as this is professional fighting, only the results matter.

 

He didn't fight Roy Nelson, he fought Shaub (sp?) and when he went to his back he was on ***** street, so don't judge his ground game by that

 

My bad on that one, you're correct. I never say Marcus fight before that but he definately had his chance when he was on top and he was tied up by Schaub, but when the tables were turned Schaub finished him off rather easily. I'm not sure how buzzed he was while he was down but I'm sure other fighters in a similar situation would have been able to tie Schaub up much better than Marcus did.
