Looking for a intelligent, no BS thread here please. So off bat @Rumsfeld @chitownfightfan @drenlou @CST80 I don't post enough here to know who's legit and who isn't so don't take offense.

On the eve of his fight with Zlatican (1/28 on SHO for those that don't know yet). I see many doubting the; undefeated, top 3 jabber, top 3 counter puncher, top 5 left hook, elite footwoek, TNT in both hands at every weight class he's been in, 5' 7" w a 68" reach, has lost less than 30 rounds in his 35 fights, great with mixing up his offense, and has some pretty good D. Then I wonder to myself, why? Has Mikey fought bums? Not IMO, he has beat some pretty rugged fighters, and not just by the skin of his teeth. Now, their is the question of his chin, because he did suffer a KD from Rocky Martinez. I say we have to wait and see, because that was IMO a flash KD, not a chin check.

So, their is the issue of ring rust. 2.5yrs layoff is a long time, and Mikey seemed a lil rusty on his D to start off, but quickly rebounded into whooping Rojas's ass. I think with the way the Robert Garcia boxing academy is ran, and the fighters in their stable, Mikey has gotten into some great sparring, and stayed in shape pretty well but, that's just my opinion.

So what do you think of Mikey Garcia? What do you think will happen, and why? Please keep things civil and limit trolling as much as possible. Thanks in advance.

I've seen mikey train and spar in the Gym, and he kept sharp with top notch sparring so the ring rust doesn't apply to mikey in this situation and he certainly didn't show any rust in his last outing versus Rojas imo.

That said Dejan is no Rojas. He's a pretty good fighter with good boxing skills and could fight on the outside if he chooses because he carry's the ability to do so, but he likes to come foward and put some pressure on you and get right in your grill to get his combinations off. And more importantly, he's a southpaw.

But if Dejan comes in aggressive like I think he will, because he's been quoted saying he's going to go for the knockout, so if he chooses to go down that Avenue with a guy like Mikey he's going to get knocked out. Mikey is one of the best counter punchers in the game and to try to impose your will and size on mikey those are dangerous risks in itself.

My pick is: Mikey TKO11. I just think Mikey is a better fighter all around, and will set up his shots nicely, while baiting Dejan to over commit and ultimately get stopped late. Don't be surprised to see multiple knockdowns in this fight!

I'd like to add, that Dejan has a chance. He's the natural lightweight and will be the Toughest fight Mikey has been in since Martinez and Burgess and I'll go further and say Dejan actually is the toughest fight of his career! Dejan will have his moments. It's going to be a good one and I can't wait!! WARRRR MIKEY!

Yea I agree with you. I think if that's Dejan's gameplan he is in for a long night. I think Mikey will step to the challenge, with counter left hooks to the body and head, he will definitely get his chin checked though. Mikey needs to set the pace with his jab, and movement. I think we will see a lot of Mikey check hook countering than turning Dejan into his right cross. But we will see.

Agree with Drenlou.....toughest fight of Mikeys career, but IMHO, Mikey is an elite and has a complete game.
Yeah, it seems he can get careless looking for fireworks, but he can also be a wiz on D when he needs to be, and in this fight he's gonna need to use his jab and footwork to maintain distance, and size to smother Zlet on the inside and his check hook to catch him coming in not throwing.

If Zlets chin is iron, it's going to the cards, close fight one way or the other and robbery will be tossed about between the EE/RU crowd and the Mex/AA demo.
Sadly, as an American, I hope Mikey wins clearly and not like Ward did getting the biggest gift of an elites career. Even bigger than May v Castillo 1.

This whole card could be a victim of multiple robberies, it's in Vegas after-all under Bob Bennett's criminal supervision.
Have these dumb promoters not learned yet not to stage fights in that corrupt ****hole?

I like Mike. Think he is a well-rounded boxer-puncher who has the talent to become a really great fighter. The layoff didn't help but I think he still has the potential to be great. :aaaaa:

I think Mikey wins a UD. He's a good fighter and is technically a level above Dejan IMHO. I think his defense is good enough to stop himself getting KO'ed by Dejan.

I actually went and watched some Dejans fight kid can fight no doubt. Mikey is levels above him. Dejan can win but if his gameplay is to be aggressive I just don't see it going well

Tough kid with pedigree, skills and pop who looked dominant at 126, but grew out of the division. He won't suddenly become ordinary at 135, but he won't be steamrolling guys either. He'll probably be looking to string together a few wins and set up a cash out fight/s.
