What do you think of these statements?

Indeed. My instinct is telling me to pick McFarland to outpoint both, but to put it into arguments would require a lot of efforts.

 

1) Barry McGuigan was a better fighter than Ricky Hatton all things considered- ok, both aren't top tier, one is a world class pressure fighter and one is a world class slugger imo, on film I think the slugging of McGuigan looks quality against his best opponents in Pedroza and LaPorte, and better than Hatton's pressure style, but i also want to give Hatton the benefit of the doubt because it ultimately took two great fighters to outclass him. McGuigan looks better to me though and that is the question, so

2) Buddy McGirt vs. Harold Brazier would have been the best technical fight seen at 140 in the last 30 years- I mean I loved Montiel-Johnson, but admittedly I haven't seen enough of Brazier, so i'm not at liberty to say.

3) Ernesto Marcel would have walked into the 80's, 90's or 2000's featherweight scene and locked it down like Joseph Fritzl did his daughter-

4) Johnny Famechon would have been in the top handful of fighters p4p today- don't see any reason why he wouldn't be top ten, on TOP TEN basis i'll say

6) Henry Armstrong would not have been considered a top 20 fighter all time had he had to come through the Williams/Jack/Mongomery/Angott/Joyce/Dawson era of lightweights in his prime- He'd be top ten lightweight if he fought in that era most likely, because it would be him or Williams emerging numero uno of the division, i have to say no though, to the statement, because he'd simply be picking up wins and losses, more wins than losses imo, and he is currently rated so high because of his weight jumping achievements, i don't see why he still doesn't do so even with this task at hand-

7) Harry Greb beat a lot of great fighters, but there is no guarantee he beats the really elite fighters around his weight (e.g. Hagler, Monzon, Langford) and so his standing as a top 5 p4p fighter is a little suspect- it's not guaranteed he beats any of them, agree-

, this is not a one sided fight though, Canto is a better fighter than Zapata and a better technician, Chang becomes more familiar with classical counter punching than ever before, but he wins for me

12) Julio Cesar Chavez would have beaten Carlos Ortiz and Alexis Arguello- I think he could outwork Ortiz, and Ortiz is basically my guy at 135, i've got him beating Williams and having the best shot at Whitaker most probably, but at this weight i think he just brings that tenacity to the point where he could do it, Chavez has a good defence, and as much as his chin is the **** he would need that defence against Arguello, Ortiz could beat Chavez, but Chavez could beat him too,

13) Charley Burley at his best beats the likes of Kid Gavilan, Luis Rodriguez and Jose Napoles at their best- Gavilan is the spanner in the works for me, at his best his workrate is no joke, Rodriguez could do that to, buti think Burley's style can offset the most cpmfortable Rodriguez in boxing mode. Napoles-Burley at 147 is a toss up for me, both men don't bring the style to really offset the other.
