Yeah. I always try to find the positive in people, but both of them need to join a gym right away if they plan to box. Backyard boxing is **** for the real deal; it's only used for drunken fun among a couple of teenagers. The ONLY time I have ever done sparring outside of a ring was with my trainer, who just happens to live by me, and we were/are very close friends. I was only going to the gym twice a week and it wasn't enough for me at the time. I had a newborn to look over. He would come over and I would jump-rope, then do focus pads with him, then heavy-bag work, then double-end bag/uppercut bag, then pushups, pullups, medicine ball ab work, and finally jump-rope again. I pretty much have my own boxing gym in the basement, all of the above plus a stationary bike, no weights though. After that we would do less than light sparring which would focus on my technique and then I'd finish by myself on the speedbag (which I loved to do for like 10-15 minutes straight), while he drank all the gatorade from my fridge.
I only posted it cause some dude wanted me too. Ima nice guy I said yeah ill do it why not. I dont think much of that video but I saw another one posted on this forum and he looked alright. But his opponets suck so bad its hard to see his talent.
Whats wrong if they just wanna have some fun ? I know the skill level is usually embarrsing but I still do it to this day even with some amateur freinds of mine if where all chillin and wanting something to do.
That's fine I suppose. It's dangerous but that's your business. I just hate when everyone video tapes it and puts it on the web and acts like they have skill. It's insulting to those who actually train and work hard at it.
Very well said. I've done the backyard type stuff with friends because it is fun, but if you are going to compare yourself to a person with any remote traces of skill, you are a complete ass. People only tape this **** so they can say "Look what a hardass I am!" later on...
i find it quite amusing and it entertains me to see people who think they are hardasses get beat up in a video and think they are the **** later on.
I generally don't like to talk **** in a training section, because we all show up here at various levels. Must admit though, near every time I see one of these backyard thingy-ma-boppers, I have to bite my tongue hard. Even if they happened to have a lot of skill (which I've never seen), they'd still look stupid. Not properly protected, skidding around on the grass. So yea, plz don't do it. Unless you like to be ridiculed. Anyone who responds positively is either yanking your chain, clueless to boxing, or stupid themselves.
I don't get why these kids keep thier hands low....like the got the reflexes or training of the pros that do it:nut
i think its stupid, but no point taking any notice. i think its insulting to say one has potential cos it was ****, but we might as well just not pay attention
