What do you think was the reason why Mayweather came back from retirement?

Money and he is an athlete - a exceptionally good one. A person that is good at his craft will always go back 'til he's certain he's over the hill.

 

I think he saw welter as a easy division when he came back and little pacquiao as a easy big payday, he also wanted to be more in the spotlight and talked about, I think floyd sees himself as the greatest of this time and when another guy gets hyped up over him he cant stand it. he thought pac was easy but after hatton he confirmed it wasnt all de la hoya being drained that helped him win he has serious power and speed at welter, even his dad couldnt believe it, mayweather creates roadblocks to get a edge in the fight after pac even beat a guy he ducked in cotto very easily, then whoops clottey 12 rounds, talks begin again at this point floyd seriously doesnt want to fight pacquiao, keeps riding the steroid accusations and simply ducks him. no other way around it. This is perfect for bob arum who can keep making inhouse fights and milk pacquiao. after the whooping margarito and destroying him another guy floyd ducked its clear he definitely doesnt want to fight pacquiao unless he sees him slow down or look bad in a fight.
To be honest I wish he stayed retired because he annoys everyone, he doesnt make the fights people want, and talks a lot fo crap about every fighter only to hype them up after he beats them. I hope he retires now and go play with 50 cents and those idiots he hangs out with. As for now it seems floyd is on a self destructive path.

Lol it looks like Mayweather had you all fooled into taking his "retirement" seriously.

It was always his plan to keep fighting. "Retirement" was for attention and PR. It was an attempt to make his next fight worth that much more as a "comeback fight." He never actually planned to be done with boxing.

As he tearfully announced his "retirement" after the Hatton fight, I was like "give....me.....a ****in....break..." and then I took a bite of my sandwich.

 

Mayweather came back mainly:


To clean the sport of boxing by introducing Olympic-style drug testing! :deal Nothing more, nothing less! Then retire again... He's a staunch supporter for a drug-free boxing and a drug-free family, if you now what I mean.

And going by his facebook page, he still has money, jewells, cars, houses, clothes, etc.

The same reason Leonard did when Hagler was in the spotlight, to regain the attention he once had. Floyd didn't come back for money(I don't think) or legacy because if that was the case he would've already fought Pacquiao by now.

 

It was never really a retirement. He wanted to take a break so could fight picked guys and avoid others. He's doing it again and will do this on and off as it makes money. Not to say he couldn't beat the other fighters but he doesn't like to take risks.

You don't do something your entire life and just give it up. Floyd loves the sport of boxing and is a gym rat. The guy will box until the day he dies.

Obviously it's a combination of factors, but I'm going to say he missed boxing. Missed boxing for a number of reasons: he loves the sport, he loves the attention, and he loves the money it generates. All reasons why he would miss boxing.

Just like all famous athletes who retire or are getting close to retiring, it's a tough decision. What do you do with your life now after you've dedicated 20+ years to a craft you are no longer going to do? It's a tough lifestyle change and mental change as well.
