I mean in a fight now in between...on fight night they've got rolls of fat. Do you think they're lacking in dedication ? Or are these super morbidy obese guys that have still lost a ton of weight but are still buckets of lard even after 8-12 weeks of a hard training camp ? Is there any excuse for being fat as a fighter ?
Yes it is disgraceful, but even in terrible shape there still getting in the squared circle and giving it a go, most of em are fighting 3 weight divisions higher than they should be.
I think they are unprofessional. You are born with the talent you have but there is no reason not to be in the best shape you can be in. To be frank, when I see a fat boxer, I get disgusted.
It's lack of dedication in either their diet or work ethic, no way you can still be this fat after a proper training camp.
It's embarrassing to the sport. They should penalize them by making them wear some custom red and white trunks with the kfc logos on them or make them wear a bra. Alot of people get traumatized seeing hairy nips and stretch marks.
I think career journeymen I also think it doesn't reflect well on the sport when you see such out of shape men represent the sport we cherish. The physical requirements to be a licensed boxer must be incredibly low. You see guys that would struggle with a flight of stairs get professional licenses to box.
funny how guys who come in in the same shape as many from the eighties and before, now get called shamelessly overweight.
The likes of Arreola, Ruiz Jr, Solis and even Stiverne on their best day are in worst shape than Witherspoon or even Buster Douglas was during the 80's at their highest weights.
Their choice, the only person they are giving a disadvantage to is themselves, you'll never be at your best out of shape so its their problem really.
