I honestly don't understand how. I've seen guys get ripped in 3 months just by going into a calorie deficit. I hate the excuse of 'it's the way they're built, some guys just can't lose that fat'...utter bull****, EVERYONE can get ripped unless they have a medical condition. A professional athlete should not be fat, it's a complete disadvantage. Andy Ruiz is a great example of a guy who would be way more effective fighting at his natural weight (with 8-10% body fat) which is probably light heavyweight.
It's hard not to wonder how or why they decided to show up in the shape their in...but...Juan Diaz always seemed to carry around extra weight and will never win a bodybuilding contest, but he had (has?) a motor and was (is?) fun to watch. Ruiz jr. throws in combination often and is fun enough to watch. Same with Arreola. Cristobal doesn't look like he could go four rounds (let alone twelve) but he's generally in entertaining fights. I guess if a guy can fight I don't really care what shape he 'looks' like he's in, just if he brings it that night. It'd be nice if everyone looked like Hercules and spoke like Churchill but that's not going to happen anytime soon.
If i see a fat cruiserweight i think yeh hes trying to avoid Sergey KRUSHER Kovalev. see cleverly, see sillakh.
This simply isn't true, some guys just have bad genetics. Bradon rios at 5'8 and 135lbs still looked soft even though he was killing himself to make weight. Hell you can even take Ali as an example, never could have a body like ken norton. Always had some body fat and love handles/wide hips. Never had 6 pack abs.
I'm thinkin' one of the reasons for such is the hatred for cardio. It's more common than you may think. Some of those guys just do not like to run at all.
This is true. Some just don't have the genetics to ever have that ripped look. When I was in the Marines, there was a comrade that was put on remedial physical training because of his appearance. When an NCO was assigned to run at lunch-time with him, he would ask how far they were to run and then leave the one assigned to give him physical training and finish in about half the time. You can make assumptions about someone's appearance, but you may be wrong.
Arreola only ran 2/12 miles a day I mean I'm no prize fighters and I run more than him ..Its sad really but then again when you take short cuts its shows up and Arreola was proof of that .
Stupidity considering they can be killed in there I figure if your going to risk your health out there for a paycheck show up ready Even low level guys and part time fighters should at least Not be a tub of lard
Depending on who you ask boxing can be seen as about 70-80% anaerobic as opposed to aerobic. Running long distances is an aerobic workout vs sprinting which is anaerobic. I get why some fighters don't do long road work, it's hard on the knees and the high intensity type training might be a better fit for fighting. That said some guys should definitely run the long slow distances to shed the extra pounds.
Any other weightclass besides heavyweight I dislike it. Heavy's are different, like offensive linemen they do not always become better when they drop pounds. I think with Heavy's, they get used to a certain weight and everything they do is in balance with that weight. Lose weight and they become too light and easily pushed around.. too much weight and they dont have bounce in their step. I will say also for heavy's, they do not need to "cut weight" so by all means, they should intake enough food to make up for their workout 100%
