Mike Tyson was never legitimately knocked down or even badly staggered by a single shot, as Holmes and Holyfield were. You are extremely impressed because Ali --a boxer, not a puncher-- could not knock Foreman out with single right hands in Round 1. By Round 3, Foreman was already staggering from those same rights. If you know anything about Foreman's career --both incarnations-- you know the most sizable part is made up of very modest opposition. So, going 80-plus fights with one knockout loss looks pretty good on paper, but I prefer to see that, when George Foreman was in a fight (Ali, Lyle, Young) he visited the canvas no fewer than 5 times in 25 rounds, no excuses. Again, as an old man, he was a different --naturally overall inferior-- fighter than when he was a young, unbeaten champion. Considering that an old Larry Holmes also never visited the canvas against the same '90s generation, old Foreman's success, including his kayo of Moorer, must be seen in its relative context. You seem to believe Joe Louis was simply a heavy-footed slugger who would just stand there swinging until big, bad George Foreman knocked him over. Joe Louis had excellent boxing skills and he would use them to handle Foreman, much like a graceful matador does a bull. Louis could move and pump a powerful jab, his hands were faster than Foreman's, and he had a terrific right hand that could go straight through George's poor arm defense, like Ali's did. Louis had much better stamina then Foreman and he would not put his chin out like Frazier nor fold up like Ken Norton. He was a determined, tough champion who knew how to win. Faced with staunch opposition, Foreman's confidence could melt into foolish fighting and signify his debacle. Louis' subtle backward shuffle, ducking and shoulder rolls could very well result in Foreman's missing huge swinging shots, tiring him, and then Louis' countering with crisp shots to bring down George. Of course, Foreman can knock anyone out. It would be an electrifying fight. But perhaps you should not easily dismiss such a proven great as Joe Louis against what is, comparatively, a uniquely powerful --but much more limited-- clubber.
?? Holyfield staggered Tyson with a left hook and had Iron Mike staggerimg to the ropes. during thier fight. which started to turn the tide in Evanders favor.
every thing that you said is pure crap. joe frazier had better stamina than foreman and louis, but foreman destroyed him early....louis did not have the chin to take the shots from foreman early, simply.is not matter if louis had better stamina than george, styles make fights and foreman destroy punchers, louis was too static to avoid foreman early, his feet work= ****. foreman was down against ali because he was tired, obviously, not because he had bad chin, but ali had x50 better chin than louis, ali could survive the first rounds because ali is ali, louis was down by weak punchers like past prime braddock and he was ko by schmeling...and he was not tired.. pathetic... problems with stamina is not = bad chin .can you understand it kid? foreman lost the balance against young , he was down 1 second!! because he was tired. ron lyle was a great boxer-puncher, very very strong and muscular 220 pounds of pure muscle and foreman was depressed when he faced young and lyle, any way foreman was down, he got up and he won by ko, it did show us that he had great chin and heart.how many times tyson was knocked down,he got up and he won the fight? ... NEVER !!!!ali was knocked down by cooper, banks or frazier but still he had iron chin.joe frazier or norton never could even hurt to foreman, and norton broke the jaw of ali. old foreman took 100 combinations from a prime holyfield, tyson was flying on his feet when he took combinations from a past prime evander. larry holmes took a clean shot from earnie shavers!!!, he got up and he won. evander holyfield took shots from foreman, lennox lewis, riddick bowe, bert cooper.... tyson was knocked out by buster douglas......HE WAS BAD MENTALLY BUT HE DID NOT LOSE BY POINTS... any person who insinuate that foreman had bad career, is simply ******ed.( he destroyed 29 years old joe frazier ,undefeated, who did beat muhammad ali, foreman destroyed ken norton who did beat muhammad ali, foreman did beat george chuvalo, goyo peralta, ron lyle),IN HIS 40s HE DESTROYED GERRY COONEY, BERT COONEY,MICHAEL MOORER, HE WAS COMPETENT AGAINST PRIME HOLYFIELD, HE WON THE TITLE IN HIS 40s after being retired during 10 years, and he is the oldest hw champ ever..funny because tyson just did beat bums, average boxers, the most pathetic version of larry holmes in 1988(he was better in 1992) and a lhw spinks, the faced just 2 great hws holyfield and lewis, and he got his ass destroyed. era of larry holmes.... prime holmes did many defenses because he faced bums and average boxers, and still holmes fought wars!!!... past prime norton, past prime shavers,snipes,weaver,smith,spoon,berbick,cooney... foreman did not many defenses because he had the bad luck to fight in the era of the greatest of all time muhammad ali. in the time of holmes a prime foreman would have destroyed in 2-4 rounds one after other one every rival of holmes( past prime norton, past prime shavers,snipes,weaver,smith,spoon,berbick,cooney..) foreman would would ko all them early. era of joe louis.... foreman would **** in the face of schmeling, bradock, baer, carnera, simon, galento, conn, godoy, and marciano included. era of marciano... foreman would have been undefeated in the era of rocky with a hand in the back. era of dempsey... lol just lol "mike tyson better chin than foreman, holmes or holyfield" :rofl:rofl go to the bed
No, thanks. Nobody does. Just like nobody has the chin to take Louis' combinations for long. Keep in mind: Joe Louis had 25 successful title defenses, with 21 knockouts, 17 ten counts, 5 in the first round. Foreman had 2 defenses and was knocked out in his third fight as champion. But it's boxing, not Punch-out at High Noon. At the top levels, a fighter needs not just brute strength but a combination of offensive and defensive skills. And Joe Louis had excellent boxing skills. Check out this video on Joe Louis' Subtle Skills: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R78hdxpRfws[/ame] You say Louis' footwork is ****. You're just showing your ignorance. Anyone who knows what he's talking about respects Joe Louis as the most textbook perfect heavyweight great. Footwork is not just jumping around like a bunny rabbit. Poor George! Seven rounds of punching himself out like a rank idiot against a weak, old man was all he could take. Foreman lacked the ring smarts and strategy to pull out an important fight. Louis reigned for 11 years. Yes, Louis was susceptible to flash knockdowns, but he was not hurt. He immediately resumed the fight and took control. Yeah, Braddock and Galento floored Louis for a couple of seconds. Who won those fights? And Louis was not tired against Schmeling?!!! Again and again, your own words are your own utter discredit. Poor George!!! And against who? Remember the name "Jimmy Young" before you attempt to undermine Louis' 25 title match victims. Joe Louis was a much greater boxer/puncher. Hardly. Old Foreman and young Foreman are two different fighters. Old Foreman's greater weight kept him on his feet more than once, but is this the Foreman you want to pit against Joe Louis? Tyson was knocked off balance. No. Tyson cleaned out the heavyweight division, beat everybody there was to beat in crushing fashion and unified the belts in record time. Well, most experts today will place Joe Louis right below or above the man you call the greatest of all time. And yet, you give Joe Louis no chance against a fighter whose only option in the ring was to beat down the guy in front of him. Ali didn't just stand in front of George and neither would Louis. Everybody thought Foreman would do to Ali just what you describe: he would **** in his face and knock all comers out one by one and reign forever. He didn't. He showed a woeful lack of resources at the highest level and your breathless, heedless gushing for Foreman here simply demonstrates a lack of understanding of what you are talking about beyond reading a record book.
LOUIS WAS VERY SKILLED BUT HIS FEET WORK OF LOUIS WAS GARBAGE, AND EVERYBODY KNOW IT. oBVIOUSLY YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A JOE LOUIS FANBOY. JIMMY YOUNG WAS STOLEN AGAINST ALI,NORTON AND SHAVERS.ALI HAD MORE STAMINA THAN LOUIS,HE WAS MUCH STRONGER MENTALLY, X3 BETTER CHIN, HE WAS BETTER BOXER AND EVEN ALI 70s said "i would knock louis out", and i agree, foreman would ko louis and joe frazier would beat louis too. YOU DID TALK SO MUCH BUT YOU SAID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. LEARN BOXING KID.
LOOOOOOOL YOU ARE THE BIGGEST JOKE EVER, OLD FOREMAN WAS COMPETENT AGAINST PRIME HOLYFIELD, TYSON COULD NOT FINISH THE FIGHT EVEN AGAINST A PAST PRIME EVANDER. TYSON AVOIDED OLD FOREMAN LIKE A ****ING CHICKEN BECAUSE STYLES MAKE FIGHTS AND ANY FOREMAN WOULD KO ANY TYSON ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. :rofl:rofl:rofl [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=siAMNaIDR1Y[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zzdf8rWxDYw[/ame] O YEA TYSON CLEANED OUT BUMS LIKE MCNELEY,BERBICK,BRUNO, ZOUSKI,SELDON,TOMMAS, TUBBS,MATHIS JR,RUDDOCK,SHOT HOLMES, A LHW SPINKS. THE CAREER OF TYSON IS A FRAUD JUST LIKE YOU ARE. TYSON FACED JUST 2 GREAT HWS (THEY BOTH OLDER THAN TYSON) AND THEY BOTH DESTROYED TYSON, EVANDER TWICE AND LEWIS ONCE. END OF THE HISTORY!!!!!
