I guarantee Gomey has not and will never forget that punch. It was brutal. Much like that punch that got Mayorga in the 12th. Hit him so hard it paralyzed the the arm on the opposite side, then it made his legs quit working.

I remember taking one which pretty much almost made me black out, immediately felt like I was going to be sick and somehow managed to stay on my feet doing my best impression of not being hurt - very lucky I did not receive any follow up blows. I'd hate to imagine what that punch would have done if it came from a pro boxer - it would be KO for sure.

They never do. I got punched in the liver after the bell once. Never saw it coming at all. I could not breathe, my legs refused to work, and the pain......excruciating. I was ****ed they DQed the guy. I wanted to kill him.

Work your abs, obliques and core. Lots of medicine ball hits. You want your gut to be so hard that the puncher will hurt his hand. That's how you protect against all body shots.

Don't really know. I've sparred a few times but I didn't experience symptoms of a liver shot.

All I remember is those gloves feel like bricks after a few rounds.

    And this stuff hurts, bad.

To guys who box regularly how do you deal with the pain in general?

Did you take any body hits or all just head?

I took a little of both. The guy I sparred with just let me have it.

So if a liver **** hurts so damn much why don't we see more of them in pro boxing?

The idea is to hurt the opponent. Aim for the liver then.

Are guys consciously protecting the liver at all times?

No. More of a distance issue. Getting a left hook all the way back there leaves you defensively open, unless you can wind in close and bury it quick.

Yeah you hit it with a deep left.

It just seems strange that guys don't get hit there more. Boxers are nailing ech other in the jaw all night long but can't hut the liver once.

Body punching is a lost art. :conf

(except among the Mexicans..and you do actually see loads of liver shot knockouts in their domestic battles)
