the past 2 years margarito has been stripped of his once high status as a top welterweight and his accomplishments dismissed as acquired through illegal means.

regardless of the presence or absence of illegally loaded gloves in his past fights, i think a win vs cotto should validate his high ranking and reputation as a very legit threat to any welterweight, and that it was his style, not the gloves, that made margo a nightmare to deal with. do you agree?

and also, does it change your opinion regarding pac's cherry pick of a shot margarito?

If Margie beats Cotto fair and square, then I would love to see him go up against Canelo.

EDIT: Or even a rematch with Martinez!

That "styles make fights" may be one of the most overused phrases in boxing, But is 100% TRUE when it comes to contact sports.

If he wins like the first fight and his hand wrapping is supervised properly, I think the boxing world owes him an apology. He's had a lot of **** concerning these plaster wraps, I don't know, for me, Cotto will win this fight in a decisive fashion.

If Margo beats Cotto again, I'll be pissed, and probably be a hater and try not to give him credit...

I dunno, I'll have to see how this one goes down I guess. I try not to be a hater, but god damnit the whole shadow over cotto vs margo I makes that way toward Margo.

A couple of things, 1. It would eliminate some of the skepticism over whether or not he was using the illegal wraps previous to the Mosley fight(not proof, but it helps). 2. It would prove that Cotto is past it and was always a tad over rated. 3. It would further solidify the fact that Margo a G.

He'll win again, most likely. I'd put money on it.

Cotto fought the stupidest fight he could have the first time, and illegal wraps or not, he got his ass beat due to fighting the wrong fight. Plain and simple.

The reason I say that is because he has never butted anyone, thrown low blows, thumbed fighters eyes or tried to cheat in any fashion in the ring. It just makes me think, why the **** would he start cheating in the locker room all of a sudden? I can't imagine Margo cheating off his own back, he loves to fight and that's why people watch him fight. He has many losses yet still gives great value for money, so why cheat to prevent further losses?

I dunno man, maybe I just respect him too much to think he would do that.

It only shows that to trash cabdrivers.

In the first fight, Margarito had loaded gloves and was able to hurt Cotto early. Since when did Margarito hurt any serious opponent early?, all he fought were bums and Joshua "I had diarrhea" Clottey was schooling him till he ran out of gas then blamed it on a broken right hand.

He might have but the 'proof' was dire, nothing concrete (no pun intended)

It means that Margo matches up well with Cotto and that he beat him fairly this time around. Nothing he does will ever erase the cloud of doubt surrounding Margo's past, but winning fairly would go a long way towards bringing him respect as a fighter and a man again.
