Bob arum at this point runs err owns a promotional company with a bit of mic service. He barely does anything anymore. He has a whole team behind him that does most of the work.

In this era I believe a boxer can do quite well without a promoter. It doesn't seem to be a necessity like it once was. Ryan Garcia is the perfect example, I don't believe Golden Boy Promotions will significantly elevate his status anymore than he would have on his own.

Except literally everyone who is anyone in Hollywood has an agent (promotor) and that includes elite guys like Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. They're the biggest names in the industry, yet they don't go solo and by a per film basis.

Do people think all that stuff just magically happens or do they not consider it at all? All these dude fingers punching keyboards talking about how boxing is a business and don’t even realize how much business it takes to even get a show put on. This guy or that guy might have a big name but does he have enough money to put on an event? That’s why I hate that stupid ass saying “boxing is a business”.

    Exactly.
Just like a music promoter, a boxing promoter puts up the cash and puts on the show.
    Very expensive and difficult business

Nice list. Everything from step 1-6 cost a lot of money. Another big one is being bonded and carrying all of the proper insurance, which can also get very expensive. Also, the promoter has liability if something goes wrong such as people not being paid or even worse such as somebody getting injured or dying at the event.

The promoter is the one who takes on the risk when staging a fight. They absorb the costs without having a guarantee of making there money back.
