Yep. Moot point. The last time Adamek made the LHW limit was more than three years ago. Adamek has carried his speed up to HW and he's using that to his advantage against the slower, natural heavies. Imo Dawson beats Adamek 9 out of 10 @ 175.
The win says nothing about Vitali. Vitali completely dominated Arreola and stopped him. Adamek showed that he has filled out nicely and has a place at heavy. His skill and speed will allow him to win fights over bigger and slower individuals, but he would probably still lose to more capable heavies. I think the Adamek we saw last night would lose to either Klitschko and to Povetkin.
Vitali's performance was more dominating no doubt, but heres a few caveats: This is Adamek's 3rd HW fight in only 6 friggin months. Try to comprehend how fast that is by today's standards. Arreola came in as a better conditioned 250 pounder than he did against Vitali and fought in his own backyard. The weight looked firmer on his body (minus those HBO replays where he was jiggling like Homer Simpson)
Than how is it that in only 6 short months, Adamek's HW's resume is already outstripping Povetkin's? Don't get me wrong, both Povetkin and Adamek are similar sort of fighters....they do everything very well, but they're not spectacular in any one thing. IMO Adamek is faster and Povekin's heart hasn't been tested yet.
Because it hasn't. Povetkin has wins over Donald, Byrd and Chambers. He did much better versus Estrada than Adamek did, almost stopping him at the end despite coming off of a layoff due to injury. Povetkin is faster, harder hitting, and more fluid than Adamek. I like Tomasz, but I just don't see him beating Povetkin.
It says nothing about Vitali. it says that Arreola is not that good. Too fat, and really to be honest has beaten nobody of note. Arreola hasn't beaten a real top 10 fighter even. I'm not sure why all the hype.
Maybe they will meet in the ring soon, who knows. Then we will have the answer. I see Adamek beating Povetkin, but it isnt easy :think
If the Klitschko/Haye talks prove fruitful and the IBF allows a unification bout it is likely that we would see Povetkin vs Adamek for the "interim" title.
