Forget all the political rubbish that has literally nothing to do with boxing.

In your opinion what does Joshua need to do to be named the greatest heavyweight of all time?

If Joshua beats Povetkin and Yoka, along with Klitschko that will be three Olympic gold medal winners on his resume.

If Joshua beats Fury that will be two lineal champions on his resume.

Joshua also has two belt holders in Parker and Wilder he can beat.

There is also strong prospects on the rise, so Joshua's resume can be top quality.

If Joshua tanks through them all with zero losses and keeps his 100% KO rate and retires that would make him in my opinion the greatest heavyweight of all time without a doubt.

he'll need better quality of opposition available than the HW division has had for the past 30 years, which is a big ask considering that the NFL undoubtedly has gone a long way to decimating the number of top US HW's.
that's not to say that top fighters can't emerge from other countries of course, but if you're playing a numbers game, then it's hard to see the HW division (which use to be the crowning jewel of boxing) regaining former glory

He has to invent a time time machine and go back to 1960, bc boxing history will never let that happen to any fighter not born at least in the 1940's as boxing fans are very easily duped so they help that cause...

What does the NFL have to do with boxing?
Do you think Marciano 5'9 180, Holyfield 6'2 205 pounds, Tyson5'10 210 pounds and Frazier 5'11 200 pounds would of made great NFL football players? Doubt it!

The heavyweight devision is clearly better than it has ever been.

Firstly, the quality of opposition would have to increase dramatically in order for him to be the greatest heavyweight of all time.

Secondly, in order to cope with this increase in quality and come out on top he'd need to lighten up considerably to improve his stamina. He'd still have power at, say, 235lbs and he'd be faster as well. His defence would need to improve as well. With his current stamina and defence he would get found out a couple of times. If those things were improved he could do it if the opposition level increased.

In reality, it would be pretty much impossible to do this. Joshua simply isn't THAT good (he's very good, just not THAT good) and this era is too weak.

    I don't think so.

I think with social media, YouTube, and with the world population being twice the size as in the 70s Joshua has far more potential to be the most popular heavyweight of all time.

I think the writing is on the wall for old fans who live in the past.

the HW division is hardly "better than it has ever been". far from it.
with the increase in lucrative NFL revenue, there is a lot more money to be made (and a higher chance of making it than in boxing).
regardless of which past boxing champions could have played NFL, it can only rob boxing of future quality HW fighters

It never did in the past, and is not now.

I doubt Football players were ever considering even thinking about going in to boxing.

You either like boxing, or football, and take part in that sport. It is about passion and their idols nothing to do with what makes more money. Very silly argument you have there.

we'll have to agree to disagree
but if an athlete has a chance to play pro ball with a reasonable chance to get a multi-million dollar, or to box and have a greatly reduced chance of making any serious coin at all, that can easily be the tipping point

Popular and ATG status doesnt mean he will be labled the greatest of all time.Mark my words on this too....bc hes not American he wont get the full credit as well bc the " HISTORIANS" down play anyone not from the U.S..its just how it is and always will be.

He will probably becomes Tyson like popular when its all said and done, but ppl have to understand there's not much negativity you can attack this guy on and that's what made many famous boxers go global in popularity is negative situations as well as good.

Maybe a video game will help him out? Another rendition of NES punch out would sky rocket Joshua as well....he will be very popular no doubt but cant see media/fans or boxing insiders siding with him over the likes of Ali /Louis or even Tyson, they are to duped themselves .

The boxing world has little to no interest surpassing past greats at HW..they are the only combat sport going backwards ,its like they are protecting a magical shrine of some sorts? lol

We will see over the next short few years. Not long until we find out at all really.

I just don't see how they can deny what is right in front of them this time. When Joshua has 100 million hardcore fans behind him, when people suggest some tiny guy who lost fights in the past could beat him, they will just get laughed out the room, and look rediculous.
